Hell's Coliseum: Dark Minotaur

*86 A.D, Roman Coliseum*

The Emperor's guards stormed into the arena from every entrance, Emperor Domitian's face was a dangerous shade of red and his eyes were on the verge of blowing out of his skull as his commands were drowned out by the crowd. I was crouched next to Caelia, my hands cupped her face. I couldn't look away from her lifeless eyes.

"He'll die for this, I promise you." I whispered to her. I took a sword from the ground, and rose to my full height as several guards surrounded me.

"Any chance we do this one at a time?" I asked. They circled me and closed in around me as a group. Domitian was stomping his feet, spit flying from his mouth as he screamed. He looked like a child throwing a tantrum.

Silence fell over the coliseum as the crowd grew weary, waiting for the guard to make their move against me. I stayed on my toes, circling to try and see which guard attacks first.

No one moved, I let myself relax and stared up at Domitian.

"Don't toy with me, Domitian! I-"

"Enough!" He said. He was taking in deep breaths, his body shaking. "You don't deserve such a quick death. Lay down your sword, I will not grant you an escape from this life so easy."

I dropped my sword at my feet and held up my arms. One of the guards broke the circle and rushed toward me, shackles ready in his hands. He locked my wrist in the first hold and as he reached for my other wrist, I pushed against him with my shoulder. He stumbled back, as he did my free hand grabbed the sword in his hilt. I turned to face the emperor, drawing the sword back as I did. With one fluid motion the sword left my hand and flew through the air.

The emperor's eyes grew wide as the sword rapidly approached his throne. He put up his hands in a desperate attempt to block the sword, but there was no need.

When I pushed the guard, he did not release my shackled wrist; as he fell his weight pulled against me, affecting the power I could put behind the sword and changing the trajectory of the blade. It wobbled as it soared through the air, losing momentum before it reached its intended target. As the emperor coward, the air born sword faltered and plunged into the chest of a woman who was seated several rows below him.

I froze, the look on the woman's face with forever be etched into my mind. Surprise and fear, it only lingered for a second before she crumpled to the floor. She was sitting with her three, young, children; they screamed and ran at their mother, shaking her and begging for help.

I couldn't look away from the children, guards tackled me to the ground and locked both my wrist in the shackles. With the guards piled on me, I could still see the horror in the eyes of the children as their mother would never wake.

Furry burned like a flame in the eyes of Domitian, he stared down at me, unmoving as the crowd began to panic into a frenzy. Everyone was yelling for another, rushing out of their seats and out of the possible line of fire.

"Take him to the Station!" He spat at the guards, his look of disdain was the last I saw before a guards foot knocked me into unconsciousness.

*Present day, Hell*

The death of that woman and her kids suffering at my hand was being played through my mind, repeating as soon as the memory would end.

"I know why I'm here Lucifer, are you wanting to play games or may I start the fight?" I asked, my hand clenched tight on the shadow blade. The smokey, black, blade felt cool in my hand, used by the strongest of demon's, this weapon was my one hope of surviving the Devil's twisted gladiator games and returning to earth with my body and soul.
