Heartbreak Girl (5SOS AU)

Prologue

Alex's POV

It was a normal day at school, and I was walking through the halls with my best friend Ashton Irwin.

We were always together, practically inseparable. Everyone even started to think we were a couple. I loved Ashton, but not in a romantic way. At least, I didn't think I did.

After a few minutes of just talking about random things, I bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry, I should've watched where I was going," I heard a male voice say.

I looked up at him. He was tall, probably over 6'0", blonde hair, bright blue eyes similar to mine, and a lip piercing. He was beautiful.

"No, really, it's okay. I'm Alex by the way," I said, and smiled.

He smiled back. He had a dazzling smile and adorable dimples.

"I'm Luke," he said, and we just stared into each other's eyes for a little while before I heard Ashton clear his throat.

"Oh, this is Ashton," I said.

"Your boyfriend?" he said like he was disappointed.

"Oh, no! Definitely not. He's my best friend. We've basically been inseparable since first grade," I said.

"Nice to meet you, Luke," Ash said.

"So, Luke, are you new here?" I asked.

"Is it that obvious?" he asked.

I giggled, and said, "I can show you around if you want."

He nodded and said, "That would be great."

I looked at Ash and said, "I'll see you after school, right?" He nodded, and I started walking with Luke.

Luke's POV

Alex. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Her long dark hair, her amazing bright blue eyes that were similar to mine, her bright smile, her cute laugh. She was just naturally beautiful.

"Can I see your schedule?" she asked.

I nodded and handed her the piece of paper.

She looked over it, smiled, and said, "Well, this should be easy. Over half of your classes are with me, and others are fairly close."

I smiled and said, "Sounds great, lead the way."

She grabbed my hand and lead me to our first class. Maths.

"Now, I know for a lot of people, Maths is a difficult subject. I happen to think it's really easy, so if you need any help, you can just come to me," she said, and I nodded.

I was actually fairly good at Maths, but I didn't want to tell her that.

"You can sit in the seat next to me if you want, no one else sits there," she told me as she sat down.

I looked around the room and saw some girl staring at me. She was cute, in kind of a nerdy way. I gave her a small smile and put my focus back on Alex.

"Yeah, sure," I said, and sat down next to her. We were rather close, but I didn't complain.

Throughout the day, I just thought about Alex, and every chance I got, I would look at her.

She was so smart, pretty, and kind. She was way out of my league, I knew I'd never have a chance with a girl like her.

5 months later...

Alex's POV

Luke and I hung out a lot over the next few months, and I liked him. I really liked him.

I was hoping he'd ask me out, but I didn't think he liked me like that.

I was hanging out with Ashton and Luke at my place, working on a project for Biology.

"I'm gonna get something to drink, you guys want anything?" Luke asked.

Ash and I shook our heads, and Luke left the room.

Ashton's POV

Alex and Luke had been getting closer, and I hated that. I'd loved her for so many years, and she never noticed. She only ever saw me as a friend.

She was head-over-heels for Luke, and I could tell Luke felt the same. Of course, being the great friend I was, I didn't discourage her. I wanted her to be happy.

"Hey, Ash, can I ask you something?" Alex asked nervously.

"Yeah, is everything okay?" I asked, and Luke walked in.

"Do you think Luke likes me? I like him a lot, but I'm just not sure how he feels about me," she said, and I chuckled.

"I think he would be an idiot if he didn't like someone as awesome as you," I answered her, subtly glancing at Luke.

"Really? You think so?" she asked.

"Why don't you ask him yourself?" I asked, and she turned around. Luke's eyes widened.

"I'll leave you two alone," I said and left the room.

Luke's POV

"Y-You like me?" I stuttered.

Her face was red, and she nervously said, "Yeah, I'm sorry you found out like that. I know you probably don't feel the same way, but I-"

Before she could finish, I grabbed her face and kissed her. I didn't know what had come over me. I was always so awkward when it came to things like that.

It felt amazing to kiss her, the way our lips moved so in sync with each other was like magic.

After a minute or two, we broke the kiss.

"Wow, I don't think anyone has ever kissed me like that," she said.

"You're the first person I've kissed, so I hope that's a good thing," I said nervously.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me.

"Does this mean you'll be my girlfriend?" I asked.

She laughed and nodded.
