Angela had no idea what was going on as she walked into her local newspaper's building. The journalist was dumbfounded as to why papers were flying every which way, people were shouting and commanding, demanding this and that. Her brows furrowed in greater confusion as she looked straight ahead into her boss's office. She hurriedly approached his desk, a frown growing on her features as she found her boss was quite visibly sweating, papers scattered about the carpet and desk, some covered in the salty perspiration.
"What the hell is going on here, Jones?" She asked, her green eyes darting about to survey the office again. Her concerned features returned to him to find him staring her down. His eyes were wide, his normally tan features had turn nearly ghost white and his pupils were hardly visible. His fear was evident, but what was the cause?
"You haven't heard?" He asked frantically, the visible fear now confirmed by the way his voice quivered. "There's been sightings of monsters of all sorts. Demons, some are calling them. Every priest in town has been called, supposedly even the Vatican itself has been contacted. There's a massive outbreak of them. Seemingly normal people just suddenly started convulsing and twisting themselves in inhuman shapes. Some real exorcist type shit, Angel, the kind you see in movies."
"What? You're delusional. How would that even be possible? You know just as well as I do that aliens and demons don't exist. There's no proof at all," she said incredulously. "And I told you not to call me Angel."
"Well right now isn't the time to scold me about your pet name! You should start getting your bible and your rosaries, crosses, stars, whatever religion you used to practice, start doing it again. All hell's breaking loose, literally!"
With that, Jones flung his arms up, wailing to the ceiling, and ran out with unfinished report papers flying up from his desk. What the hell is wrong with everyone? Everyone knows that demons are just mythological creatures, created to scare children into behaving and adults into conformation. But if Jones believed this was real... No. He was a little off his rocker before, but now she knew he was mental.
That was, until she stepped back outside.
