5- yr old Lucy Heartfilia sat crying in the school playground, while the sounds of children's joyous screams filled the air. She felt a nudge on her shoulder. Looking up, she saw a boy with salmon colored hair looking down at her, smiling.
"Hey! Why are you crying? Its recess!" the salmon haired boy exclaimed. Lucy stared at him, flabbergasted. She realized he had asked her a question, and she exclaimed the first thing that popped into her head.
"Why is your hair pink?" she squeaked out.
The boy pouted. "It's not pink, its salmon!" he said. "O-Oh...." Lucy looked down, embarrassed by what she said. "Well I answered your question, now you have to answer mine!" the boy said as he squatted in front of Lucy. "..... My mother died a few days ago.." she whispered. The boy looked shocked, but he wasn't as shocked as Lucy to what he did next. Lucy's eyes widened in surprise as she felt the boy hug her. "What....." Lucy haven't felt a 'hug' in over a year. "It'll be ok. I'm here for you." he said.
After a few seconds the boy stood up and held out his hand. Lucy stared at it. "C'mon! It's recess! I wanna play!" Lucy took his hand and stood up. "And by the way, my name's Natsu Dragoneel, and I'm the best! Nice to meet you." the boy- known as Natsu- grinned. Lucy smiled. "I'm Lucy Heartfilia. Nice to meet you too."
