Chapter-04(Part three) Selection Tests III...

Start from the beginning

The guy ahead crouched and in a single deft motion at frightening speed held out his shield horizontally and manifested the other placing it over the other.

Now a wall of blue light, his stance was like a defensive unmoving wall that would stand unaffected even if he had to face the impact of a bullet at point blank range, warding of all attacks from the front.

The others also prepared their devices, the second guy aimed his gun forward and the last readied his guns and moved his eyes surveying the surroundings.

Unexpectedly they really fell for it, I wanted to express shock but I decided not to waste a god given chance...

... And I planted my feet to ground, fixed my posture and stretched my hand forward aiming the gun's muzzle at the guy with two guns, my finger moved to trigger and I....just as I was going to apply force through my fingers-

"......!"

The dual-wielding gunner had a gun already pointing my direction...

My fingers were just placed on the trigger, but he had already discerned my location and almost completed the motion of pulling the trigger.

".....!"

".............!!!!", the shot was fired...

I regained my senses and quickly retracted my head to the side narrowly escaping the bullet.

Pieces of cut hair fell on my shoulders.

A shiver ran down my spine....

He didn't fall for the bait.....but he....made me...Damn....!

But why did he aim here? Was it simply reflex or intuition... or did her already notice Chester's location and expected the other vanguard to aim from the other side as part of basic strategies.

This was getting more complicated by the minute....I can't sit here getting confused.

I peeked looking at them from a distance.

The frontal guy kept his defense unchanged...the dual wielding gunner still had a gun pointing at my direction.

The guy in middle strangely had my attention more than the others...his expression completely devoid of tension, to put it more accurately he was smiling, but not the same as Chester it was more like an extreme expression of playfulness...

I perceived an ominous vibe from him. But I couldn't afford wasting time studying his reaction.

.................

I calmed my mind and tried to empty my thoughts, took a deep breath and closed my eyes only for a second.

I needed to bring my thoughts in order again....like a chant I told myself....repeating it again and again...

If it's me..........if it's me then...I can definitely do it....i will....i won't let it go otherwise.

It's a test right? Then it's not supposed to be easy at all...

"Heh..." I laughed a little to myself. I didn't know how much that childish way doing things would help. But by just a little my confidence returned...and I let my face make a natural smile without any resistance.

I simply grew complacent from only facing weak opponents... this was how it was originally supposed to be right?

The pressure and tension are all part of the play....
