Normally It would be completely stupid for a petite seventeen year old girl to be looking around for an alley to go into on a rainy night, but I was a special case.
I finally found a suitable enough spot, at the end of a dead end road so I knew that it wouldn't be busy. If people saw a girl jumping from rooftop to rooftop, I think someone might be suspicious. Yep that's what I do for fun sometimes. Yeah, there's really not that much to do at the palace.
I walked into the alley, almost to the end, and looked up. It was about ten stories high, a perfect starting point. Not too high and not too low. I closed my umbrella and let it drop to the ground. I was prepared to hoist myself onto the fire escape when someone pushed me from behind into the brick wall. I was shocked because I should've heard and them coming, unless it was....
The offender flipped me over and looked me in the face, my back to the wall. My suspicions were confirmed, another vampire. He'd been quiet enough to escape my ears, he was no doubt in hunting mode. He had brown hair that stuck out this way and that in a "I just rolled out of bed but still look good" type of way. He had icy blue eyes that had bloodlust in them, I was completely confused at this point.
I pushed him away from me with such force that he crashed into the other building across from me leaving a crack in the concrete. He seemed physically unphased by this, but mentally, he was as confused as I was.
"Do you know who the fuck I am", I nearly screeched at him. I knew I sounded like an egotistical bitch, but surely this guy had to know that you don't just go around attacking members of the royal family.
"An unbelievably strong human", he looked amazed, almost amused. He flashed in front of me so we were face to face once more. "This will only hurt a little", he said , sounding confident. He tilted my head so my neck was exposed. I grabbed him by his own neck and then slammed him to the ground, making a car alarm go off and causing the tiniest bit of a quake. I was pissed now. I looked up to make sure that no one was coming, there didn't seem to be anyone who'd noticed. I waited a minute and then the car's owner switched off the alarm, probably from an apartment window.
"Don't ever put your hands on me again, understand?", I said through gritted teeth.
He nodded as best he could with my hand wrapped around his throat. "Um, question", he struggled to speak, so I loosened my grip, but not enough for him to try anything. "What the hell are you?"
"I'm a vampire, same as you", I looked at him with the "Duh!" face.
He spoke again, "Well for a vampire, you smell an awful lot like a human", I tilted my head to the side, like when someone first discovers something strange. He continued, "And you have pale skin but you're warmer than any other vamp i've met, what's going on?" I couldn't answer this guy's question because I didn't know the answer.
Back at home i'm sure that everyone was used to my scent, but to a rouge I smelled like a human. What was going on?
"Enough questions about me", I brushed off his question, "Let's start with why you just attacked a royal?"
He looked, once again, confused. "I don't see queen Liz anywhere", he looked at me like I was hallucinating.
"Don't fuck with me, you know what i'm talking about", I retightened my grip.
"Sereously, I don't know about any royal family", his words barely escaped due to my grip.
"How could you not know, didn't they teach you?", I was reffering to whoever had turned him. He clearly wasn't born into this life, no knowledge of our histories gave him away.
"Didn't who teach me?" He said as best he could while being strangled.
"The person who turned you, they should've taught you what you need to know. I was sure he was bitten and not born because he was so ignorant of who the royals were.
"I have no idea who turned me, it all happened too fast." He choked out.
I sighed, "Okay, i'm going to let you up and you're going to tell me everything you remember." I said, giving him a look that said he'd better not try anything.
I let him up and leaned against the brick wall that he'd only moments ago thrown me against. He leaned against the concrete wall opposite me.
He began speaking,"well, I was visiting with my family from Connecticut.", He waved a dismisive hand as if it were in that exat diretion, "Me and Sam went to a club...fake IDs", he flashed me an arrogant smile. "I wanted to smoke but the bouncer got all pissy about it so I had to go outside, I went to a back alley. It was just me out there, and then some one threw me to the ground and next thing you know they bite me. I was starting to feel faint and then I blacked out. I guess he..."He glanced up at me,"or she, took too much blood and then had to save me at the last minute." It was just-"
"How old are you?", I interrupted.
"Sixteen, why do you ask?", He shrugged.
"Nothing, it's just you seem a little young to be going to clubs and smoking and..whatever, nevermind." I waved it off.
"What are you my mom?", he said smirking.
"I said nevermind, shut up!, Boys always think they're so funny, gosh! He continued to smirk at my annoyed expresion. "Anyway, one last question. What's your name?"
"Chase Everett." He said walking away.
"Will I be seeing you around here again Chase?", I called after him.
"You already used your last question princess." He turned and flashed a perfect smile at me before disapearing off into the night.
