"Bella!" Mom yells. "Coming!" I rush down the stairs of my beloved home. "Is all your stuff packed, your dad is getting the car ready for the drive to the airport?" Mom asks. "Um yeah.. I'm definitely ready to get out of this place." I respond. "Good. This is good for us. We need to do this, you understand that, right?" "Yeah, I guess it will be. I just don't understand why we are going so far. I understand maybe moving to a different state, but an entirely new country?" I groan. "Your father and I want to try something new and besides, this could be educational for you. To have completely new traditions and cultures" Mom tries. It works. "That does sound awesome." I grin. "Okay, then go get in the car, your sister is already there." Mom smiles warmly. My sister is my best friend. She's 15, 2 years younger than me. Her name is Ari. It's not short for Ariana though, my parents wanted unique names for us. She's just Ari and I'm just Bella.

The drive to the airport wasn't that bad. Long maybe but it wasn't completely awful. Ari and I just listened to our music while the cold, rainy Seattle weather came through the cracked windows. Once we got there, I called the couple of friends that I had and said I'd call when I was settled. I did the same with grandparents and other family members  that you only see at holiday parties or birthdays. I didn't really have a lot of friends.. I was kind of a loner. I mean I talked to anyone who talked to me but I had a problem keeping friends. They didn't like having a friend who's baggage out weighed their fun and sweet personality.

Getting on the plane was probably the worst part. Getting through security was annoying and finding the right gate, then waiting for the plane to be ready to board. Once we boarded and were seated I was kind of sad because Seattle was all I knew but I had a feeling that this would be a good place to start over. As we ascended, the excitement and anxiety settled in the bottom of my stomach. It was beautiful rising above the clouds and watching my home be left behind by the jet. London, here we come.
