Chapter-4(Part 2) Selection Tests II

In fact they both were quite nervous. Their cautious gait and their shrunk backs walking straight through the forest without stopping to take cover or walking while camouflaging themselves in the shadows. Their every action screamed of the deep confusion and anxiety swirling inside them.

A pair of narrow sharp eyes observed their movements from a distance behind. It looked as if to analyze their action.

It thought...They didn't notice huh...Then its time to go in...

It smirked...

A few minutes earlier...

Trying to verify my own theory I had first ran to where I threw the stone. I calculated the distance as I ran there.

The range was easily over double the width of the field...no I might have already covered the distance equal to its length.

Then I was right...this VR can alter our sense of distance....

I held my chin with my hand and narrowed my eyes thinking deeply...

Hmm... it was definitely possible. There are many instances like losing a sense of balance when hit at vital parts and all. This is wasn't coz there was any fault in the brain but the connection between the brain and organs are weakened or severed, having their communication disturbed.

Then emulating an application of this effect by giving wrong signals to the brain was entirely possible.

It was mostly certain even though I wasn't aware or experienced of it before.

The miniature model needed us to move on our own, it only gave the sense and feel of things. It couldn't process complicated procedures liking altering the sense of distance or giving hypnotic effects. But this machine could do even that.

Then if all this is right...I could use this.

I released my chin and decided my plan of action.

I circled around the perimeter running, keeping my concentration at its peak level at all times. I stopped after regular intervals to take cover and also picked up stones to throw them at the other direction from where I was closing in from.
And soon...I reached the opponent team.

"Come you idiot, there was some noise there over in that direction!"

"Y-yeah...."

I came across the two from the opponents' team and examined them from head to toe, trying to study them as much as possible before going in...

They were dead nervous and moved as their arms and legs trembled.

Spotting them was easy as they materialized their shields giving away their locations.

I decided to move....

They proceeded slowly trying to be sure of many things before they advanced ...but left their backs wide open.

I wasn't smiling...I couldn't afford to take it easy either. As far as I could tell I didn't spot any other members from a distance but I didn't know if there were any more gimmicks to our weapons.

I bit my lower lip slightly tensed. But I still proceeded... I decided to go on the offensive!

I was close... I was steps behind the two but they didn't notice me at all.

And...-!

"..........!"

-In one leap I moved in next to guy on left and whispered..."Hey..." near his ear.
