I looked at the shield in my hand, with an expression of sudden realization.
"...!"
D-damn...it was on for so long?
I quickly press the button making it disperse into particles of light and fade away.
Holding out an activated shield that emitted light was like advertising my location to the enemy. It was really lucky that they hadn't come closer yet.
I sighed a little in relief, then gulped...
this was a bit more complex than I expected...
Then my thoughts shifted to another matter.
But that's strange...10 minutes have passed but we still haven't crossed each other.
The size of the field was only that of a soccer court, five minutes was more than enough time to run the entire length of the field.... Then why?
Especially if they were caught by the same effects of this setting then their frustration would rush them here as soon as possible.
Then my face darkened...were they skilled enough to notice it before me...
If that was correct then the chances of us passing this was very low.
Even now I couldn't completely shake of the ominous feeling binding my senses.
Uncontrollably biting my nail was proof of that.
My thoughts began to spun,
No,...if they really are that skilled then this should have already been over with our loss, if that isn't then there are two other possibilities.
I looked to the side with a sharp piercing gaze.
Then fix the shield device to the hook in my belt, shift my gun from right to left hand then bend down to pick a stone in my hand.
I toss the stone up and then grip it tightly after catching it again.
I lowered my stance, bent my knees then twist my body back greatly as if I was a baseball pitcher.
Then-
"......................!"
With a sharp sound the stone flew through the air after I threw it.
I raise my body to see how far it travelled. At the distance I noticed the top bunch of a tree shake a little.
The distance travelled by the stone was.... technically a few times more than the width of the field.
It didn't confirm anything and the theory I had in mind wouldn't be confirmed with just that, this could easily be just a visual trick by the VR device.
But I decided to gamble....
I turned to the side and closed my eyes trying to visualize where my position was inside the field.
If I'm right then now I'm facing the east from where I was originally standing.
"Haa......!"
I took a deep breath...then start running ahead.
*****
On the other side....
Two individuals in their battle gear, both had their shields raised and a gun peeking out from the side of their shields...walking anxiously at a little distance from each other.
"Hey,...why aren't they here yet?" one person asked with hesitation and nervousness.
"How the hell would I know? Dimwit!", the other individual seemingly frustrated responded in an irritated tone.
