A small smile crept onto his face. "Oh this," he pointed to his face carelessly. "You should see the other guys."
"What went-" I started before I was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in," I called. Lisa and my dad walked inside and had hopeful looks on their faces. I was relieved to see that they were here in the flesh. My once clenched heart had finally settled down and was breathing a lot more normally now. I didn't think my fragile heart would be able to handle any more surprises.
"Danielle, you're finally awake," Lisa said as she approached me. I noticed that her eyes were puffy and red. "How are you feeling?"
I gave her a weak smile. "I'm feeling alright, what about you? You look like you've been crying. What's wrong?"
My dad cleared his throat. "Austin, would you mind leaving the three of us alone? I am thankful for you watching over my daughter but I think it's time for you to leave," he said sternly.
"Uh, yeah sure of course," Austin complied with a fixed face. "I'll see you later I guess. "
My left eye followed him closely as he left the door room and I heard the 'click' of the door closing. My attention was shifted back to my parent's longing gaze.
"I'm so sorry for what happened at that dance honey," my dad said as he kissed my forehead. "If I would've known things were going to get this carried away I would've never let you out the house."
"Sweetheart it's not your fault, don't blame yourself," Lisa assured him.
My head immediately shot up as I remembered an incident from the mentioned dance. "Where's Ronnie?" I asked in alarm. I could see Lisa and my father exchanging nervous glances.
"Ron is in the room a few floors below you. We just came from visiting him," my dad commented.
I immediately took off the blanket that I was wrapped in and tried to get out of bed. However, I was stopped by Lisa who put a hand on my shoulder. "I need to see him," I said in protest.
"The doctor says he needs to rest right now honey. He's not allowed to have any visitors for a couple of hours," Lisa explained sadly.
I gave her a frown and slowly got myself back into her original spot in bed. "Fine. I'll visit him in a few hours," I finally said.
"In the mean time, the doctor says you're free to leave the hospital today. You can go back home if you'd like," Lisa added with a small smile.
I shook my head. "Nah, I think I'll stay here and rest a little. I'll visit Ronnie when it's time to and then I'll get back home or get something to eat."
"Of course Danielle," my dad chimed. "We'll check up on you later."
"Okay," I answered in a whisper.
The both of them gave me a small kiss on my forehead before leaving me alone in the room with my thoughts. I sighed and folded my arms and used them as a pillow for my head. Leaning back into my bed, I replayed last night's events slowly and tried to recall what happened.
FLASHBACK TO LAST NIGHT
"Hey, Danielle! Do you have any lipstick in this shade?" Candice asked pointing to her violet dress.
Taking a quick glance at her dress, I was careful to not accidentally burn myself while Mel did my hair with the curling iron. "Check the second drawer on the left in the bathroom," was my quick reply.
"Hold still," Mel demanded as she was concentrating.
"Sorry," I mumbled. "Are you almost finished? The guys should be here any second."
