We perched ourselves a top the green grass hill in awe. Still abundant with life the air here did not sicken us.  It was our safe haven. Below large shards of glass had pierced the earth, man's creation stood as skeletons.  Machines that once terriozed us now lay limp in the shimmering waters that had leaked into the empire we once called our home.  Vibrant flames flickered amongst the ruins like candle light, here we let our era rest in peace. The flames reached up their arms blending into the rich sky above.  It was red with the blood of human wrath, yellowed with the age we had put on this earth and pastel pink clouds draped the sky complimenting the pure aura of the moon. The wind came hushing our wild thoughts, whispering of faded memories.  Ashes of extinction snowed down on our little green grass hill, a ripple of sweet foul essence danced through the air. Twilight oversaw the age of mankind and Dawn cradled the new born future in her arms. All had ended. We are now the fallen that once rained the earth, portraying ourselves as her gods.  We did not come to realize, soon enough, that all those who receive the breath of life may never acquire immortality. What we have taken from this world we must one day gift back.  We are not deities, we are not gods or legends; we are human. The flames that enveloped our home grew vigorous with thunder. The sky dimmed to an ember as darkness and the stars awoke to the new found world. A roar bellowed through the air, a flare of light caught our eyes.  A pillar of our lost kingdom, that had once held the sky, crumbled into the tide below. Renewal had commenced.
