Natasha had become close with Steve and they spent time together but she hadn't given it much thought. But when Pepper and Maria were helping Nat get ready they were putting on her makeup picking out a dress. Pepper had started brushing in Natasha's red curls when a soft mumble stopped her," I want my hair straight", nat said as she looked at herself in the mirror. Maria had only seen her hair straight once and pepper had never seen her hair straight. natasha didn't usually straighten her hair but it was so unusual that Maria and pepper both looked confused at each other as pepper started to say," is someone trying out a NEW hairstyle. It's not like you to do something NEW." Some reason these words stung and something made nat snap inside . she turned her head fast and rose her voice and said," because that's the way Steve likes it!" She regretted the words as soon as she said them. She quickly turned her head back and looked down at her delicate fingers placed on the bathroom counter. she stared at them while remembering the conversation she and Steve had early that month. She randomly asked him what hair style he liked best. him giving her an answer that would lead her back in the bathroom. Pepper just walked out and came back with a hair straighter. they stayed silent the rest of the time before leaving to go out with the 'gang'. But this only a vivid memory that haunts her as she lay on the cold ground of a tent. She didn't like it when she expressed her emotions it made her feel vulnerable. And on a mission like she was on now, nothing or no one could distract her from remembering things. Especially out there alone on a stakeout the only communication she had was in a radio, and she had barley touched it this morning. S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters would be curious. But she didn't mind this memory only made her question what was her friendship with Steve. She didn't quite know but all she knew is that she missed him and she couldn't wait to get back
