A/N Hey Guys! I'm staring this new story in hopes of actually finishing it and making this the first of many books. I love writing and i hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoy writing it. i will edit the book as i go so each chapter might take a little while to come out. Don't be afraid to tell me what you think in the comments. I know the intro made it sound like just another mushy wattpad romance but i promise I'm going to work really hard on making it anything but that.

The sound of soft chirping seemed to always be a peaceful constant in the wide clearing. The mid day was always bright and sunny with a few scattered shadows cast by the large whimsical trees. I remember watching a pair of squirrels scatter over the forest floor just inches from my feet. i remember giggling, twirling and then following after them. I couldn't follow for very long, they quickly scrambled up one of the wide, tall trees and disappeared among the branches. so fell onto my back and watched the leaves in the wind. They twirled and flickered in a way that made me wonder if a fairy would dance the same way in the wind. would they sow their clothes from the little blue bell flowers that swayed on the ground around me? Would they smell like little yellow buttercups?
I was so trapped in my own thoughts that I didn't hear someone shouting for me. I couldn't hear the grass crumbling under their large, heavy feet. I didn't see them pause when they spotted the little girl laying in the grass. Eventually they called my name again, or maybe it was a few more times, and i looked up.
"Alice... you scared me half to death," I wanted to meet a white rabbit now. Do all white rabbits carry pocket watches? Could I fall down a hole and arrive in a fairy tale? I was picked up in a pair of large arms. those arms where attached to shoulders, and the shoulders connected to a neck and...
"Daddy? your head looks like an egg."
he smiled, "before or after they fell off the wall." his green eyes flashed with the sort of amusement all adults seemed to have when a little girl said something odd.
I paused for a moment to ponder the question, tapping my chin. "before."
He chuckled, "Well that's good." and then he called me a princess and carried me home to our family cottage, which was actually a craftsman in the suburbs.

The densely packed book bag dragged on my shoulder and I made my way down the busy street. The sound of the words on the pages of a book coming alive inside of my head was enough to drown out the sounds of the cars disarrayed honking and screeching. my nose brushed the pages, lifting the smell of ink and paper to my senses. It was hard to place the book away at the end of the chapter but I regretfully slid it into my book bag and continued on my walk. Little puffs of smoke escaped from my mouth as I took each step. My worn black converse added little clomping sounds to the melody of discord that filled the city street. I was certain by now that my nose was the color of the letter on Hester Prynne's chest, my cheeks were likely not far behind. The frigid air was one of the things that made my arrival to my destination all the more comforting.
I made quick work of stepping inside the quaint little coffee shop and allowed myself to be enveloped in the waft of warm air and coffee smell. A very marry unbirthday to me.
