Okay so
1) I wanted to watch the movie not for the sex but because of how hyped up it was. Yeah I know it was hyped mostly for the sex but I wanted to know why else it was so popular. So I watched it and it honestly wasn't what I was expecting. Yeah the sex parts were expected but there was only like 5 scenes (20 minutes out of the whole 2 hour movie), the rest was totally unexpected. A lot of people refused to see the movie cause it "promotes sexual abuse and sadism" but throughout the whole film Ana holds her own stance and she even continuously keeps asking Christian why he does this to women and why does he need to treat women this way, and yeah she ends up saying yes to him but at the end she stands up to him and tells him he will never touch her that way again, and SHE walks out on HIM. And honestly I thought said something that a lot of anti-movie people were missing. Ana fell in love (with a very gorgeous man) and did what any naive, hopeless romantic would do, she tried to be with him and make him happy. And so the ending when she turned her back on him and made him feel how she's been feeling the last few weeks... I even started crying

2) I guess the book was originally written to be a fan fiction of Twilight and being the huge Twilight fan that I am, I definitely saw all the similarities and it oddly made me happy

3) the fact that Ana was still a virgin as a college senior and Christian was still so into her gives me hope

4) the whole movie screamed abusive relationship and every time Ana started crying after her mom would call or she would cry in bed my heart hurt cause that was me not too long ago and I could literally put myself in Ana's shoes and that's what makes the ending of the movie so dynamic to me at least and hopefully to others who have been in the same/ or similar situation

5) The fact that Christian knows he's messed up and he ends up admitting to it, is so powerful. And his personal issues run so deep that despite needing control over everything, Ana is beginning to change him, and he's even trying to be a better, more loving person.

6) Jamie Dornan is my new favorite thing

7) I would give this movie an 8/10
