ATTENTION:

I'm re-writing the story, almost from scratch. These chapters have not been updated. I left them here because I can see people still reading by their votes. I will republish the last chapter with the update to keep the chapters in order. Sorry for any confusion! Thank you for all your support 💚

You know how most big shot company owners always have their office on the top floor? it's almost always there like a show of dominance. And people just accept it because they know they would do the same. It's because of that I made a point of adding an extra floor underground. Floor B is what we decided to call it and now the whole floor is my office/work area.

My name is Zander and I am the owner of the world's fastest growing companies in the world. In the last five years, I have created Binary Inc. from scratch. It thrived with one idea in mind. Everyone is a genius; you just have to find what they're good at. And for me that's programming.

For my lovely assistant, that's actually running the company.

She has a master's degree in business and a minor in human sociology. I saw her walking from the elevator holding a big stack of papers. I looked up from my project putting down my screwdriver. "I knew you would be here sooner or later what else is there that I have to sign today? I already signed all those contracts for us buying out that cell phone company what was it called again?" I asked as the red head approached me, her heels clicking against the floor. "It was AT&T and you'll have to send out a press release about it tomorrow but knowing you I went ahead and typed out a speech," She said sitting down in front of my table. She looked down at the various pieces of metal and wire. Sighing she asked, "what's this". I looked and smiled "I'm making a prototype for this charger that will charge wirelessly and in half the time it normally would, Steve Jobs called me last week about it saying he was at a dead end and wanted a pair of fresh eyes on it." She looked at me blankly for a minute and said, "I've worked here for years and I'm still amazed every time I walk through those doors." She said shaking her head. She looked down at the papers and remembering why she came down here handing them to me. "The coders on floor twelve and thirteen are starting a coder's union. This could cost a lot of money in the long run for us. So I have a few ideas to stop it from forming like more paid vacation days, more funding, etc. I just need you to sign them". She finished putting the papers in my hands.

"What's wrong with a union I actually like the sound of it, better communication for what they want? Why haven't we thought of that?" I said smiling.

She, on the other hand, looked terrified. "It could cost us millions of dollars in the long run".

"But if they're happy they work harder, and quite frankly I don't care if it cost us millions they help make that and much more so assure them they have our support and ask them for a list of things they want and me and you will talk them over," I said handing her the papers and picking up my screwdriver. She stayed there with the papers still in hand and so I looked back up.

She was looking at me very intently. "that's making me uncomfortable what is it".

"how long have you been down here," she said referring the underground floor of the building. Since I was the owner I didn't have to put in how many hours I worked in the database.

"I don't know what day is it," I said matter-of-factly I was so focused on my work that I've been down here at least a few days.

She sighed "December 5" looking shocked I thought for a second, I've been here for a week. "how long has it been"

"A few days," I said sheepishly.

"get out of here and sleep," She said.

"I just took a nap a few hours ago. Besides its better if I sleep here because I don't have to waste an hour a day driving here and back." I said matter-of-factly hoping she would like the efficiency. By the look of her face apparently not.

"I'm worried about you, you need to go out and have fun, our only 26 once." She looked excited for after a second "me and John are going to a club after work, you want to come?" she asked suggestively.

"And watch the newly-weds make-out while a bunch of guys hit on me all night? Thanks but no thanks." I said getting up and grabbing a bag to put my project in so I could work at home.

"then go to a gay bar and flirt with chicks maybe take one home." She said taking my bag "but you are not going home and working." She said getting up and putting the bag back. She looked at her watch "its 5:26 and I usually leave around six but I've been going overtime for the last few days so I'm taking you home and getting you presentable then we are dropping you off at the planet". She said before grabbing my purse and handing it to me.

'What if I say no" I said sheepishly knowing she won.

"I'd quit and you know you can't replace me" she winked, I groaned and followed her out of the office.
