Chapter One (Jace's POV)
January..The first month of the new year. More resolutions made just to be broken and more adolescent drama to come.
It's cold outside today but not cold enough for school to be delayed, which is a big disappointment to all.
Many students swarm the coffee scented hallways as the school year resumes from Winter Break. People yawn tiredly and drag themselves into their designated classes while waiting for instructions from their just as tired teachers setting up the material for the day.
Everyone had gotten used to sleeping in because of the past few weeks, but now they had to get up early and come to the most miserable place on Earth, especially to a teenager.
'8:30 is too early..'
Jace thinks to herself tiredly as she carelessly opens her notebook to a clean page. Her notebook consists of two things: music lyrics and drawings.
Whenever Jace looks like she's working, it draws less attention herself with the stupid people floating around, she figures. Except for Madison..her best friend since kindergarten.
The boys surrounding her at this school are mostly all perverse and for some reason take a specific interest in her.
Was it her dark purple hair or her stereotypical wardrobe that makes her seem more appealing than she is? She'll never know..
Meanwhile, the girls around her are not looking to bang the first guy to ask them out or anything, but they aren't exactly as perfect as they think they are.
The girls at this school are obnoxious and shut out anyone not like them. The "Pretty In Pink" squad that Jace despises.
The teacher puts up a few notes on the board about a subject that she doesn't particularly like and Jace just continues writing music lyrics in her notebook.
She seems pretty content doing this until she feels a large shoe smashing into the back of her chair a minute later.
'Logan..' She sighs and rolls her eyes, turning around.
"What?" She says quietly, feeling irritated.
Logan always seems to bother her most out of everyone else surrounding them in class.
'Why me?' She internally whines. This boy is incredibly annoying to her.
"You got a pencil, cutie?" Logan smirks while sucking on a red lollipop.
"So you couldn't afford a dollar pack of pencils at the store but you have enough for the cigarettes sticking out of your jacket pocket? You're a real pain in the ass.."
She tossed him a pencil to shut him up and turned back around. He just tucks his smokes back into his pocket and grins idiotically.
Logan is one of those boys who thinks that all of the chicks in the school are into him even if they won't admit it to themselves that they're the least attractive people and the most annoying.
But somehow his addiction to cigarettes, his gang member friends, and lack of respect for women just isn't attractive to Jace.
She isn't one of those girls that fall in love with bad boys. In fact, she already has a crush that she is planning to ask out this week, and is actually the complete opposite of a bad boy.
She tries not to think about it too much because she knows that there is the possibility of being rejected and it makes her nervous.
'Rumors spread fast too..'
