'Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the streets
The sirens were blaring
The horns honking beep beep
The children were huddled
By the fire to keep warm
As their jackets were tattered
Their clothes very worn
The cold wind sent a chill
Through them all with a shake
The fire was warm but
How much more could they take
There was no dreaming of Santa
Or presents galore
No stockings were hung
Where would they? What for?
But in spite of their luck
In spite of their blight
Christmas Carols arose on that
Dark winter's night
A child is born
A savior was given
The true meaning of Christmas
Was that Jesus was Livin'
The sacrifice of our God
The Christ child that was born
Was not lost on this family
Cold, hungry or forlorn
Just as the "Who's" sang when the
Grinch took all away
This family gave praise on
This glorious day
For Christmas is not gifts
Not stockings or bows
It's the love of a God
For his children below
