Twenty-Two

"Get out of here." He whispered.

"No! I'm not leaving you. I'm gonna get you some help."

I pulled Cash over to couch and laid him down then grabbed his cell phone, dialing Natasha's number.

It went straight to voicemail.

"Shit! Pick up! Please!" I screamed through tears as I dialed her number again. I got no luck.

I then dialed August number and he picked up.

"August! You have to get over here! Cash has been shot and that bitch-"

Pop, Pop!

"Hello?!! Sky!?? SKY!" I looked down at the phone then tossed it in the middle console of the car.

"What happened!?"

"Something ain't right ma'. She said Cash was shot and gun shots just went off."

"She's alive! Leslie is alive!! Nooooo God pleeease!" Natasha sobbed.

"Everything gon' be aite. I promise you." I grabbed ha' hand and gently kissed it.

We pulled up at Cashs' spot and it was crowded with police officers and ambulance.

Natasha hopped out of the car and ran towards the door and I was right behind ha'.

"Mam, you can't go in there." An officer blocked her path.

"My sister is in there! Let me go!"

"Mam, I can't let-"

Natasha pushed pass him and ran inside.

"CLEAR!" The paramedic screamed as she tried to revive Cash.

My body immediately tensed up as I watched him laid out, weak. That shit tugged at my heart and Natasha immediately pulled me into a hug as a tear escaped my eye.

"Still nothing! He's not responding! One more time, CLEAR!"

I silently said a prayer, hoping that he would push through. "He gotta make it baybeh. He got to."

"He's gone." The paramedic said with defeat.

Natasha zoomed over to her and screamed. "No, fuck that! Try it again!"

"Mam, he's gone. There's nothing else we can do."

"Nooooo! Please." She sobbed as she dropped to her knees and grabbed Cashs' hand. "Please just try it again. Please."

The paramedic hesitantly agreed then put the equipment on Cashs' chest.

"CLEAR!"

Cashs' body jerked then his eyes fluttered.

"We got a response! Let's get him to the hospital."

A swarm of paramedics flooded the room and placed Cash on the strecther as Natasha chased afta' them. My feet were glued to the floor and I couldn't move. I was in shock.

I heard Natasha's voice as she spoke to the woman that revived Cash.

"Mam, there was a woman here? Brown skin, about five seven. Did she make it?"

"She's at the hospital in ICU. They rushed her there a few minutes before you showed up. It's not looking good for her. She was shot twice. Once in her head and once in her chest."

Natasha didn't respond, she just walked away.

I knew how she felt cause I was all fucked up too. Not only is the only family we have holding on by a thread, our son is also missing. I don't know whea' to start or what the fuck ta' do.

My phone vibrated and I looked down ta' see Edgar calling. I sent him to voicemail but he called right back.

"Helluh?"

"You have a job scheduled for tomorrow. I need you on a flight at nine a.m in the morning" his thick accent spoke.

"I'on think we gon' make that. We have problems hea'. Bigger problems."

"You see August, I don't care about your problems. We had a deal and you have to follow through with your promise. You're a man of your word eh?"

"Look muhfucka! I am a man of my fuckin' word and we did have a deal. The deal was set that we was ta' do a job in two months, not tomorrow so don't hit my line talkin' reckless."

I heard him laugh on the other end of the phone.

"Tha' fuck is funny?!" I yelled, taking my frustration out on him.

"Will you accept the job August?"

"Fuck no." I hit the end button on my phone and slid it back in my pocket then walked out the house to search for Natasha. We had to come up with a plan and quick befo' I loose my fuckin' mind.
