Meant To Be

Eating

Off days for Monsta X were easily predictable. They would go out and do their separate things, some go to practice or compose, others visit their parents. Other days they would just stay in the dorm, relaxing for once.

This is where we find Minhyuk waking up much later than usual, only ushered out of bed by the smell of food. He stumbled out of his room to find takeout boxes all over the table and Shownu grabbing plates and utensils. Minhyuk sat down and yawned, stretching out and rolling up the long sleeve shirt he was wearing to get ready to eat.

"Where is everyone?" He asked in a sleepy voice.

"Out shopping or practicing, they'll be back later today." Shownu sat down across from him, handing him a plate so he could fill it with food. Even after he handed of the plate Shownu kept looking at Minhyuk. At his shirt to be more specific.

"Is that my shirt?"

Minhyuk looked down, chewing on some chicken. The shirt was probably two sizes too big, plain black with a small white logo. Definitely not his. He looked up with an innocent smile.

"Sorry hyung, it's just really comfortable. I'll give it back."

Shownu shook his head, smiling back.
"Don't worry about it, I was wondering where that one was."

"I found it with my clothes, I must have accidentally grabbed it." Minhyuk shrugged, really not sure how it ended up in his room.

They ate in silence for a while before Minhyuk started talking about something that happened on one of the music shows while Shownu listened and ate, nodding when he needed too. He liked listening to Minhyuk, and the blonde never made him add to the conversation. It was their dynamic, it was perfect for them both.

After a while, Shownu noticed that Minhyuk had stopped eating and was just talking now. He got like that sometimes, so the older of the two grabbed his chopsticks and some meat, pressing it to Minhyuk's lips.

"Eat, before it gets cold."

Minhyuk was stunned into silence for a moment but laughed it off before opening up his mouth and eating up.

"Sorry, I got distracted."

Shownu just nodded and grabbed more meat to feed himself this time. Minhyuk started eating again as well, but kept looking up at his leader. Each time he looked up longer and longer until he was staring.

"Is there something on my face?"

"Let me feed you hyung."

Shownu stared back curiously but nodded and opened up his mouth. Minhyuk smiled and fed the other singer just as he had been fed. Shownu ate up the food and made a very pleased sounds, making Minhyuk laugh.

After that they ate in peace, both stealing looks at each other. Times like these made something stir in Minhyuk's chest. What kind of feeling was this? The only thing that came to mind was a crush, not that the blonde would ever admit it. Better to keep quiet then create awkward tension, right?

On the other side of the table similar thoughts were running through Shownu's head. He wondered what it would be like if he could just confess the feelings he had for the other. Would Minhyuk feel the same? Or would he reject it and distance himself? Shownu didn't think that he could handle never eating with Minhyuk like this again, never falling asleep next to him, or never seeing him wearing his clothes again. Better to keep quiet right?

After they finished Minhyuk offered to clean up, and Shownu left the room to change.

When he was finished, Minhyuk sat on the couch and turned on the TV. There was a drama showing so he just left it on just for background noise. Shownu came back, dressed to go out and Minhyuk's heart sank.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to the studio, work on some moves. Did you have plans?"

Spending the day with you was my plan. He thought before shaking his head.

"I'll stay here, go on hyung." He tried his best not to show how disappointed he was, but Shownu could still see it in his eyes. Instead of putting on his shoes and leaving the leader sat down on the couch.

"I have all day right? I can go later."

Minhyuk smiled and nodded, scooting closer to his friend. They started to watch the drama together, laughing at all the silly parts.

As they watched, they got closer until Minhyuk had a leg in Shownu's lap and the leader had an arm around his waist. It wasn't unusual to be so close to each other, but Minhyuk's heart started beating faster just by feeling the older boy's hand on his hip. He thought about how strong Shownu was, how easy it would be for him to just pick him up and-

"Why are you blushing?" The other's voice broke the blonde's train of thought and he lifted his hand to feel his cheeks. They were hot, and knowing that just made him blush even more.

"I... Uh, sorry." He turned away trying to focus on the TV. Shownu dropped the subject and they kept watching.

Later Wonho and Hyungwon came back, followed by Kihyun later. The couch wasn't very big so to make room Shownu pulled Minhyuk fully into his lap. The others cuddled close and watched as well, waiting for their youngest to come home so they could decide what to eat for dinner.

All Minhyuk was thinking about was the strong arm around his waist. All Shownu could think about was the boy in his lap. They felt whole like this, like this was exactly where they were meant to be, always.

Later, Shownu did go to practice with Wonho and Minhyuk watched Kihyun play video games until he got sleepy.

When Shownu got back it was already later and everyone else was already in bed. He let Wonho shower first, eating leftovers.

After he cleaned up he went to bed, surprised to find a sleeping Minhyuk. Quietly and carefully he slipped into bed behind him, falling asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
