Meant To Be

Asleep

Shownu woke up in his bottom bunk bed, back pressed against the wall. His headphones were still halfway on, connected to his phone. The phone itself wasn't playing anything anymore but he remembered that he had been watching dance videos before he dozed off. When he checked the time it was half past 3 in the morning, so he had only been asleep for an hour or so. He usually ended his night watching videos, going through the moves in his head.

It wasn't until he tried moving to plug his phone in that he realized someone else was on the bed with him. He looked down to find Minhyuk, the group's chatterbox, asleep on his stomach. He stopped trying to move so he wouldn't disturb the blonde. Minhyuk usually came in right before he fell asleep, sometimes he would watch the videos with him and even fall asleep beside him. This time, he must have come in after Shownu had fallen asleep and decided to join him.

Shownu moved just a little so he was flat on the bed, and Minhyuk moved just a bit to get comfortable. The older of the two smiled down at his younger friend and moved his hand down to play with his hair.

He's so peaceful like this. He thought, fingers gently running through the light colored strands, careful not to pull at the dark roots. Not like when he's talking.

Sometimes he didn't understand how he and Minhyuk got along so well. When he wasn't on stage, Shownu preferred to stay in the back, let his fellow members (Minhyuk specifically) do most of the talking. But he guessed that's why it made sense that they would be close. Minhyuk liked to fill the silence, and Shownu had plenty to spare.

Soon Shownu's hand moved down to the other's face, outlining his features with his fingers. His movements were gentle and just barely touching the surface, running along his cheeks and jawline, back up to his hair line. He had almost fallen back asleep when a low, raspy voice spoke.

"Shownu hyung, stop it." Minhyuk whined, causing Shownu to stop his movement and move his hand back up away from Minhyuk.

"Sorry, go back to sleep."

"I'm trying." Minhyuk whined again, shifting to get comfortable again. The blonde boy turned over so his face was buried on Shownu's stomach, tossing his arm over his side so it was loosely wrapped around his leader's side. It made Shownu feel good, wanted. He closed his eyes and let sleep take over again.

Minhyuk waited for Shownu's breathing to even out before he moved higher up on the bed. Now, instead of on his stomach, he was positioned on the leader's chest, listening to his heart beat. This was one of his favorite places to be. Here he didn't feel pressured to keep a conversation going or crack a joke. He never felt that way with Shownu.

With Shownu he could say anything without thinking. Shownu wouldn't judge him or tell him to be quiet. Minhyuk was always thankful for the calm silence that Shownu carried with him.

Before Minhyuk could fall asleep in his new spot Shownu moved onto his side, dumping the blonde back on the bed. Instead of pushing him back on his back like he wanted to, Minhyuk moved up to the pillows and laid so he was facing his sleeping leader.

His fingers slowly started running across the other's face, starting at his cheeks but moving down to his lips eventually. How did Shownu have such perfectly shaped lips? Soft too. Minhyuk wondered what it would feel like if-

Shownu started to wake up so Minhyuk quickly moved his hand away and closed his eyes, feigning sleeep.

"I know you're awake." It was Shownu's turn to talk in a raspy voice, followed by a yawn. Minhyuk opened one eye, then the other when he saw that Shownu was smiling at him. He smiled back, making himself laugh.

"I'm sorry, couldn't help it."

Shownu laughed along, shaking his head.

"It's fine, just go back to sleep." Instead of brushing him off and sending him to his bed, Shownu pulled him closer and wrapped an arm around his waist. Minhyuk nodded and cuddled closer to him, so that their noses were almost touching.

"Goodnight hyung." He whispered before closing his eyes again.

"Goodnight." Shownu whispered back, doing the same.

They laid there for a while, taking in each other's warmth and presence. Eventually they both fell asleep, feeling right where they were meant to be.
