Princess of Nothing

38 9 18

Her hair was up
Her nails were done
And she had never
Felt so alone
Glaring around the ballroom
Looking for someone
Someone to love her

Unfortunately, life ain't a fairy tale
And there's no prince to sweep you away
Not a single sound
Will escape
As you slip under the waves

Standing on the beach
Her hair undone
Her nails chipped
Feeling the waves
Beat at her feet
Salt on her skin

And she knows that she's beautiful
Maybe they just couldn't see
After all, she knows that they
All had a certain view of beauty

So she takes off her shoes
And washes her makeup off
This is her, her true self inside
The truth is, she's lost

Quietly, she steps into the waves
Her screams are quiet, faked
In case a prince comes to save her
But she knows
Nobody will
Nobody will

They found her a few days after
Buried under the waves
In her hand was
Clutched a note
And it said
"Life ain't a fairy tale."
