WhiteNoise has this really in depth back story with a lot of hardship. However she and a group of friends manage to prove themselves to the entire kingdom (another long story) and Noise is able to prove that even a mare can be a royal guard member. So she is appointed as head of all the royal guard in Equestria, and becomes close friends with Luna. However, as Luna begins a revolution to create a democracy, Noise has to choose between her close friend or protecting Equestria from being plunged into deadly war.
"... I must protect Equestria... Even from you."
The purple magic is Luna's, after Noise went against her.
Would guys want to see a comic of this..? I can't gauruntee I'd be able to finish such a long story, and it'd probably be just pencil with no colors...
