I sit down in a bench in a near-by park, shaking like a mad man. Birds tweet an innocent tune but my mind is tranforming them in to a defined silence. I stay still where I am, staring into that infinite hell of a screen that is my phone, the words and messages staring me down. It's all too much for me.
1:00 and I've done nothing but eat and muder a guy. I look around to see to many people are around. They're breaking my personal space. I get up and look around and see a small empty alley way across the street.
Without thinking I run across the busy road. The long hard screeches of drifting tyres can be heard through streets many metres away. I can feel the weight of the world smash though my hips, forcing me to lose some balance, but not to fall. I quickly steady my self, raise my hand to show I'm fine with being hit at 50km an hour and continue on feeling nothing.
I try to steady my head as I rush through into the centre of the alley where I take a seat on the cold ground. The smell of near-by dumpsters fills the air.
After a few moments rest, another guy my age catches up to me.
"Dude, you got absolutly samshed by that ca-"
He froze, staring at me for a moment. I was feeling scared. It was an alley way after all.
"Hey. You're Chase from school!"
he recognised me, obviously, but I couldn't tell who he was. He offered his hand to help me up, so I accepted and stood to my feet.
He kept rambling on about the car while I just stood there still shocked at my new found abilities.
"Dude, that car HAD to be going at least 50 if not, 60 kilometres an hour, you've gotta teach me how to do that! do you work out? what's your fitness regiem? You hafta tell me!"
I stood there silent, thinking.
"I don't know what I did" I said quietly "Last night I-I wass pushed by this guy and I-" The thoughts had already left my head. This guy seemed pretty interested, but I decided not to tell him anymore.
"What next?" he asked.
"Why arn't you in school?" I asked him, trying to change the subject.
"Why arn't you at school?" He retaliated. "You've already missed 3 science classes, you really can't afford to miss another this term."
I looked at him. How could he know this about me. Unless he was in my class.
"You in science 3?" I asked
"Yeah, we worked on that Biology assesment last term." He said as if that instantly made him my best friend "I'm the only reason you passed that!"He brushed his long, blonde hair our of his eyes.
"Oh, um, Lauchlen, right?" I asked vaguely remembering.
"Yeah!" He replied, taking his ear phone out.
I looked at my watch to make it look like I had somewhere to be
"Ugh, 1:15. I gotta go. You going to school tomorrow? I'll see you then!" I quickly left the alley way
"Alright, I'll see you tommorow, I guess." He replied.
I turned the corner out of the alley way and a police car or two and an ambulance were at the scene. The man who had hit was crying.
"I didn't kill him, or see him. He was fine!" He cried, his pale blue shirt staining with tears.
I was about to leave when a police man grabbed my shoulder.
"Can you come with me, sir?" He asked.
"I suppose." I replied.
he walked me over to the man who had hit me.
"Is this the kid?" The police man ased the crying buisness man.
"Yes, yes. He's fine, you see?"
"Did this man hit you with his car?" The police man turned to me.
"Uh, yeah. But it was my fault, I ran onto the road, and it doesn't hurt or anything."
"Will you press charges?" The crying Indian looked up at me.
"N-no." I replied "It was my fault." I repeated. "I'll be off now."
I quickly walked away, the policeman and the Indian began to chat as the tears began to fade from his face. I dissapeared into a crown nearby before the police could investigate. I wanted to know my own story first.
I looked around and remembered my apartment wasn't to far from here, and I figured I should just rest for now.
I arrived at my apartment. It was how I left it last night. I sat down in my chair and began to watch some TV. I flicked through a few channels and found nothing of interest, so I just left it on the latest news. I prepared a coffee and looked through my latest bills.
"Rent, Electriscity, gas..." I began to read to myself. I was about to begin the calculations when my roommate burst in.
"Hey, switch it to channel 5!" He ordered.
"Hi to you too." I said, puzzled at his excitement "Why are you here?" I asked. "school doesn't end for another 2 hours."
"Science lab exploded some toxic chemicals, it was crazy, man." He exclaimed as he lept onto the couch and switched to channel 5. It switched to a woman who had half-way gone about a new species of mice.
"Rodents?" I questioned his excitement.
"No, the report after it, you ding-bit!" he spoke, rather harshly. He sat there, eyes glued to the tv.
"What a nice new discovery there." Finished off the news lady. "Now onto tonights top story. A young man of the age of 18 or 19 was hit by a car on our streets of New York today, by a car travelling at 53 kilometres and hour. However the boy was not killed, nor injured. He wasn't even knocked off of his feet. He remained standing and took off into an alley, in a hurry and came back moments later."
"This is nuts." My roommate murmered.
"Police were able to identify the person as Chase Andrews, a young man who-"
"CHASE?!" He burst out, interrupting the tv.
"W-what?" I asked rather frieghtened. He switched off the tv and walked up to me.
"How could you not tell me?" He burst.
"Hey, I just figured this out myself-"
"How long has this been going for?" He inturupted.
"As I was about to tell you, I only found out this morning."
He walked around the room, anxeiously tapping his fingers together.
"I'm going to rest." I announced, after everything that happened.
"At one pm?" He questioned.
"Yes." I murmered, leaving.
