Finding Franz

An Introduction

In 2056, the world was in turmoil. Oil, food, water and electricity supplies were running low as global population skyrocketed to 12 billion. Countries were at a loss, and all of them had to undergo large-scale rationing. Beside that, stock plummeted to the lowest point in human history, so much that Russia, China, India, and Canada had to activate martial law to stabilize social order. But when there's a high demand for basically everything a person needs to survive, nations became desperate. In 2061, Russia led nuclear attacks against the US, China, and the UK, which were said to store the highest amount of supplies. This had it's backlash, and many people woke up on the morning of August 12th, 2061 with sirens. Many sirens. A Third World War had begun, and many places were devastated by nuclear fallout as a result that day; Southern US, Beijing, Tokyo, London, Northern UK, half of Germany and France, to name a few. By 2070, rations were stopped completely, and supplies were limited to a select few which earned their right to possess them. Now, civil wars, riots, and protests sparked across the globe, and many leaders watched as their world crumbled before their very eyes.

In this novel, it will be the year 2108, in the United States. Atleast, it used to be united. But due to a doctrine established in 2093, the now Fascist Soviet Union made an agreement with the original US Government that in exchange for a peace treaty signed on the Russian-American front, the Soviets will take over the US. It was signed within a week, and the Americans were forced to accept their new leaders. All states were merged into one country. Any protests against it would be quickly suppressed by the army and militarized police.

But just because there were new leaders, and thus, the Fascist Party of America (which the USA was now called), the shortages still persisted. And so, right at the dawn of the 22nd Century, Agenda X was enforced, and all Americans were put into concentration camps to keep the tide of labor going relentlessly and supply the FPA with a rich economy. Only 1,000 citizens were allowed to live in peace outside of the camps, where they were spoiled, and thus, those people obeyed and never batted a single eye.

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE STRAUB FAMILY

Albert and Franz Straub were born to Kent and Leina Straub in 2076. Leina Straub was born to German immigrants, who in turn were born to German Jews where they had to face the horrors of the Holocaust first hand, the great-grandparents both being refugees of Auschwitz. In 2013, Leina's parents migrated from Berlin to Chicago, and stayed there until their death in 2031. The birth and death dates are as follows:
