IN WAITING
© 2015 by David Wainland
I have witnessed
sirens wail warnings
windows darkened in fear
I watched as child
mushroom clouds blossom
growing fields of melted lives
I observed
in teenage horror
frozen Korean hills littered with bodies
I heard the wailing
of far eastern jungle deaths
the roar of frustration walking the land
I felt the trembling
saw the dust, heard the moans
when towers fall and nation mourns
I feel in heart
those cries in chaos
rumbling through Paris streets
I pray that
humble people
will reject the hate
I long for
for different world
a lifetime spent waiting
