Whisper of the Trees

This is dedicated to one of my newest fans :)

The trees swayed

Those whispering willows

in the dark twilight sky

The air danced around me,

Frosty and light

One second there, another gone,

With a whisper, left behind.

It was there he came,

Between the spindly branches,

Out of the shadows rising

like Frankenstein’s monster,

Slowly making an entrance into my mind.

Tiptoeing through the darkness

His creeping feet silent

on the moss layered ground.

I stood shock still, waiting

My pounding life beat the only sound breaking through.

He came closer, like the Reaper

closing the gap on a dying sickbed,

Slithering through the trees,

A snake closing up on his prey.

A piercing scream ripped through the night and I jumped,

Another scream.

I opened my ears,

It was my voice that shredded harshly through

The silent blanket of night.

I whipped my head around,

The dark shadow was gone.

Revolving slowly I caught a glimpse

of those pale moon eyes

Twisting, I searched again,

Always a step behind.
