“This is bloody awesome!” Emilia gushed.

“Shut up,” I hissed as forcefully as I dared.

“Sorry,” She dropped her voice to the lowest of whispers. “But I can’t believe this. I’m going to a D.A. meeting!”

After sorting things out with Draco on the first day of term, I had apologised to Emilia for the way I’d treated her and explained my actions. While she spent a fair amount of time chastising me for being so silly, soon enough we were best of friends again and now for the first Dumbledore’s Army meeting of the term, I was bringing her along.

It felt incredibly strange making the journey without Luna. Alone, it would have been quite daunting, so I was glad to have Emilia’s company. I’d had to tell her to be quiet a fair few times, but then again, it wasn’t like I’d been silent on my first trip to the Room of Requirement.

We stopped on the fourth floor. Ever since my idea to escape with Terry, a few members of D.A. had worked on enabling all of the members to enter from the fourth floor. They’d found a way and immediately scheduled a meeting for as soon as possible.

Emilia’s eyes lit up like a child in a sweet shop when she stepped into the room. “Holy…How does such a big room exist with no one knowing?”

“You’re forgetting that we’re at a school of magic, my friend. Hey, guys,” I greeted the others.

            “Hello,” Ginny greeted.

“What are we doing tonight?” Emilia asked enthusiastically.

“Well, I guess we’ll have to show you the ropes, so to speak, and for later there is something great in store.”

That piqued my curiosity. “What is it?”

            Ginny smirked. “You’ll see.”

Other people began arriving. We’d had an influx of people who wanted in. The Room seemed to get bigger and bigger with each arriving person, but it still felt packed by the time everyone was there.

Emilia wasn’t the only newbie, not by a long shot, so Ginny set most of us up to help them with some basic spells. After a couple of hours of practicing defensive magic, Ginny gathered everyone around. “All right, everyone, I’ve got a surprise for you all.” She pulled a slightly dusty radio I had never seen before from a shelf, setting it on a table. She fiddled with a few knobs, muttered “Phoenix,” and turned the volume up.

“…several sightings of You-Know-Who all over Europe in the last week alone. While not all of these rumours can be true, we advise all of our viewers to be very cautious at all times – both away from home and in it.”

We all stared at the radio blankly for a few seconds. “Is that…Professor Lupin?” Parvarti asked.

            “Yeah,” Ginny said. “Keep listening!”

“Thank you, Romulus,” Another familiar voice sounded from the radio.

            “Lee Jordan,” Ginny informed us.

“Not at all,” Professor Lupin said pleasantly.

“Now, to Rapier,” Lee Jordan announced. “What news?”
