Madeline stood in the bathroom, facing away from the mirror. Alex had gotten her some clothes and after about an hour or two of laying there, she finally got up and went to change into them. There hadn't been a mirror in the bathroom of the hospital room she had been in. She had avoided not looking at her reflection, but she had to look at it eventually. She took a deep breath before turning around and gasping.
She took a few steps closer to the mirror to get a better look of herself. She was ghostly pale. She had always been pale, but not like this. She was taller and older looking; her features more defined and less rounded. Her eye color looked a bit darker and her hair was a slightly shorter. But what freaked her out was that scars, cuts, and bruises speckled on her skin all over. Some were yellowish, as if they happened days ago. And she was so skinny everywhere besides her pregnant stomach. It didn't look natural to be that skinny. Even her cheeks were a bit hollowed in and she could almost see her bones in her forearms.
She ran a hand over her face and arms, as if checking to make sure that this was her own body. She looked horrible. Her stomach began to hurt. She clutched the counter top and then squatted while gasping, still grasping it.Her eyes widened when she felt something at her throat. She rushed over to the toilet and puked.
