Mark's POV

I retreated for my room when we got home but got caught by my dad. "MARK EDWARD FISHBACH" he shouted. I flinched and stopped in my tracks. "Sit down. Now." I sat down on the couch and kept my head down. "What in the holy hell was that stunt about? Do you realize how much HELL we went through?! DO YOU?" his warm breath on the top of my head. "I tried to protect him." I said softly. "What?" my dad asked. I stood up quickly, nearly falling over, "HIS DICK OF A DAD BEAT THE FUCKING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF HIM FOR BEING WITH A GUY." I screamed. My dad stood in silence and I let my anger out. "I WENT TO PROTECT HIM, DAD." I fell to my knees, sobbing into my hands. "I just wanted to keep him safe. That's all I want." I said into my tear soaked sleeves. As I hyperventilated, I felt strong arms embrace me gently. I hugged him back, crying into his shoulder.

Jack's POV

I was sitting in my cell, feeling sick to my stomach. "Hey Jack." I looked up to see a smiling Natalie. I was about to vomit then and there. "Ready to go hon?" she said opening the door. I nodded and stood up, my legs feeling like jello. As we headed out of the building, I stopped abruptly. "Wait.." I said. Natalie gave me a confused expression. "What is it?" She asked. Tears formed in my eyes. "Can I call someone first.?" She smiled and handed me her phone. "I'll be in the car." She swiveled on the feet and walked to the parking lot. I dialed the number, my tears making it difficult for me to see the buttons. I held the receiver to my mouth as it rang. "Please pick up.." I whimpered.

"Hello?" Mark said.
I couldn't help but smile. I missed his voice so bad.. "Mark? It's me, Jack." I smiled through the tears. "JACK! Oh my god are you okay?!" He cried. I just chuckled. "Heh. Yeah I am." I went silent and my heart was about to pound right out of my chest. "Jack? You still there?" Mark asked. "I-I have to tell you something.." I said, my voice cracking to the point it hurts. Mark sensed something was wrong and his voice became soft and monotone. "What?" I hesitated but I couldn't hide it. "I..I'm moving.." I sniffled. "Where?" he asked. "I'm going to live with a foster family in California." I couldn't hold the tears back. "No! Jack. No. I can't lose you! Please!" Mark started crying as well. "I'm on my way to the airport now." I said. Then the call ended. I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked at it, crying even harder. I made my way through the crowded parking lot to Natalie's car. I found her car and got in.

"Everything okay hon?" she asked, pulling onto the street. "Yeah.." I sniffed, wiping my eyes with my hands. She didn't say anything else as we drove. We soon reached the airport. We got out of the car and got my stuff out, my heart beat gaining speed the closer we got. We walked up and got my ticket and went through security. She sat with me as we waited for me to board my plane. I had never flown before so I was pretty terrified. And the fact, I'm scared shitless of heights. As we were talking, I heard someone shout. "JACK!" we turned our heads in the direction of the noise, only to see Mark booking it towards us. I got up and ran straight to him, people all around us just staring.

Mark's POV

I hung up the phone, without saying anything and ran down the stairs, nearly falling down them. "Dad! Quick! Grab the keys!" I shouted. "What? Why?" my dad, questioned. "I'll explain later. Please. Just take me to the airport." I begged. My dad just stood there for a second. "Please.." I pleaded. "Okay.." he sighed. We jumped in the car and sped off. I didn't know what plane Jack was going on but I was willing to run all over til I found him. We pulled up and I jumped out of the car while it was still moving. "MARK!" my dad slammed on the brakes. I ran into the airport and snuck past security. I was bound to get in trouble but I didn't care.

I saw brown and grayish hair peeking out from behind a chair. I ran and yelled his name. "JACK!" I screamed. His little head turned around, jumped and ran towards me. I threw my arms open and ran faster. I soon had him in my arms, slowly falling to our knees and tears streaming down our faces. People awed all around us. We held onto each other, knowing this was the last time. "Please don't let me go.." Jack whimpered into my shoulder. "I won't baby boy. I won't." I gripped him tighter. "Flight 425 is now boarding." We cried harder. I walked him to the gate, holding his hand. We hugged on last time. I kissed his lips gently. Then just like that.. He was gone..
