Interrogation

POV SARAH

I wake up, apparently I fell asleep. I'm not even really awake when my door is already open and a very loud voice fills the room.

"How dare you to disappear several days and then not even tell me that you're back !?"

Hey Maddie.

Maddie, my best friend since I can remember. And the only one who really knows everything about me.

Maddie hates children. But thats the way things go here. There are several stations- as kitchen, childcare, crafts, medicine and every week you have to work in another one.

If you have passed all the stations by, you have to chose one and you'll stay there.

Personally, I naturally wanted to join the guard. So protect my people, to train and secretly I hoped that I would be selected and I can make the search for the "City of Light".

But this dream has been destroyed by my brother and I ran away and found Murphy.

"Sarah, are you okay?"

I wanted nothing more than to say "Yes". I hate it when people see me cry. They automatically think you are weak.

But Maddie is my best friend and so I let the tears flow freely and I am even grateful for her hand stroking gently over my back.

POV MURPHY

"Will you start today?"

Man, this Jaimie has really no patience. Does he not understand that I want to build the tension?

- All right. So on the Ark things run like this: if you build crap, you'll cast without much talk of the ship and suffocate painfully.

If you are not yet of legal age, however, you're going to be locked up in a cell until your 18th birthday and then thrown overboard.

This time, people up there decided to pack 100 adolescents in a Dropship and throw on the ground. They wanted to know whether the Earth is habitable again and for this they naturally don't wanted to sacrifice any honorable citizen.

"What does that have to do with the Groundern?"

-Have you not been listening? 100 young criminals, well prefer to say 99 I was definitely out of place, without a guardian. You have no idea how dangerous they are. They take away the Grounders land, they even kill them. I am sure that there will be war soon.

"Show Murphy his preliminary roost. Give him food and clean clothes. And tell Seth, he shall take care of everything else. "

"All right!"

I want to go when Jaimie puts his hand on my chest.

"If you have just dished lies to me, then God help you. And one more thing: stay away from my sister. "

POV SARAH

I calmed down and stopped crying. What have I imagined? That he loves me? I don't really know what I feel for him.

But what I know very well is that he has hurt my pride and I will certainly not let him win.

"Come on Sarah. Time for food. "

Only now I realize how hungry I am and let me willingly grind out of the room by Maddie.
