"No that's why I dislike you because you always bring up my bad personality traits and some of them aren't even true."
"I got bad quality traits too there ain't nothing wrong with it, mama." He said as he opened the passenger door for me.
He hopped in the car and turned on the radio. Instantly, Poetic Justice by Kendrick Lamar played.
"Baby!" I yelled, turning the volume up. "This is our song!"
He laughed and recorded me singing along. "I recognize your fragrance hol' up you ain't even gotta say shit and I know your taste is a little bit high maintenance ooh everybody else basic you live life on a everyday basis."
I continued singing along as Chrsanto typed away on his phone. This song played on the radio the night Chresanto asked me out at that beautiful restaurant. It doesn't really match our relationship, but every time this song plays and Chresanto sings it to me it makes me feel some type of way. A good way though.
"Check your Instagram." He said, pulling off.
I clicked on the notification on my phone and watched the video of me singing along. The caption read, I've know this diamond damn near my whole entire life. I swear y'all I use to hate her so much just because she was so damn perfect and I knew I had no chance with her. That's until her mean ass gave me a chance. Can't lie I fucked up that chance real bad. I've done some things to this girl that I pray my daughter won't ever have to go through with a nigga and my son won't ever treat any woman like that. Ever since we started dating, I knew she was the one for me. She's the most funniest, classiest, goofiest, meanest, cutest, and ghettoest girl that I've ever met. Our personalities tend to clash a lot and I've broke her heart a few times here and there but this is my baby y'all. I wouldn't trade her for anything in this world. Even though I don't see her as much anymore, I love her and I'm proud of her. She's still the same mean asshole, but she's also the love of my life. Till this day, she's the only girl who still gives me butterflies. I love you so much baby. Thank you for being my ride or die and helping me take care of Lani. I don't think I could ever thank you enough.❤️
"Aw, Chresie!" I laughed, wiping some tears from my eyes. "Thank you, baby. That was so sweet of you to write. I love yo' irritating ass too."
He laughed. "I don't think we'll ever show our love for each other without being mean, but you're welcome."
"You just don't understand how much I love you, boy." I kissed his check.
"Nah, mama. I don't think you understand how much I love you."
"I love you and our dysfunctional relationship so much."
"More than you love Odell?"
"See, you testing the waters a little bit too much."
He chuckled. "So, I wanted to talk to you about something."
"What's up?"
"Ever since that one day Lani and I FaceTimed you while you were in New York and she called you mommy, she hasn't stopped calling you that."
I sighed. "Chresanto, if you don't want her calling me mommy then I'll talk to her about it."
"It's not that, Bri. I just want to make sure that you're okay with it."
