Leah used her and Beatrice’s special knock to let her know she was standing outside the door. No answer. Knock, knock, knock this time she heard a rustling in the house but no one came and she decided that it was her imagination. As she walk into her own house Angus was having a tantrum and her mother was so occupied by that she didn’t even notice that Leah had come back.
Walking through the house and plonking herself on the hard bed that always made her back ach she could not stop thinking about the incident that had just happened. The thought kept on occurring in her mind that she should just ask her mum about her dad. Well that would useless it would only be the same answer; putting on a high voice in her head she imitated her mother. “I’ve already told you the answer. When you were about three years old he was working in the mines and the roof collapsed down and he passed away within minutes.” Well she had to try. When the tantrum subsided she stood stretched about four cracks sounded in her upper back, and set of marching down the short walk to be her mother, she was standing in the kitchen. Leah asked her “What happened to my father, mother I need to know the truth”
“Dear it doesn’t matter. How many times you ask the answers the same. Your father died in the mines when you were three and a half.” Her eyes shifted from time side to side as she said that.” “Now help me cook diner and take care of your brothers.” The same answer Leah expected she kept pushing on though. “Mother,” looking her right in the eyes she spoke nice and slowly in a stern voice. “If you do not tell me NOW I will not hesitate to leave.”
Minutes past, Leah’s Mother did not budge only to lick her lips and neglect the dagger eyes Leah had plastid on her face. Another minuet past, no response. That was enough. Leah ran into her bed room took the money she had saved her whole life and stormed out not acknowledging her Mother screaming after her. Leah sprinted into the one place she hated; the deep dark forest. Entering the forest Leah shuddered at the thought of coming back to this horrible place, and considered running back to her mother and to be embraced in a warm hug. No, she could not afford to think like that so, Leah pushed herself to sprint even faster. Tripping over a stone Leah thought she had déjà vu but remembered the resent event which had taken place within only one day. Thinking of that Leah glanced through the mist and trees at the sky and noticed the shining mother of all the stars had nearly disappeared. Thinking of this she felt extremely tired, Leah yawned putting all her exhaustion into it and kept hiking, her determination pushing aside her wit and focused on losing her mother. Leah made the decision to sleep near Beatrice’s house, not inside though just in case they informed her mother wear Leah was.
Arriving at the house, Leah was worried hear her friend Lucy crying. Peeping through the window trying to be discreet about it she saw Beatrice sprawled out on the ground Lucy bundled in her arms. Leah started to shake as her mind went blank and not even emotion found its way into Leah’s body, the only thing that beat in her body was the aching her hart. Leah’s vision started blurring and a head pain sharply penetrated her mind, bringing Leah back from the box that enclosed her thoughts. Staring down at the two bloody corpses and devastation was the only thing that went through her brain. Tears started making their way down her face, as the saltiness spread across Leah’s lips. How could someone do this to poor Mr and Mrs Eldridge? Leah wept and wept until the tears had subsided. All she wanted to do was comfort her friends, which would have done the same and cuddle up in her mother’s arms. But with a stern look of determination written on her face she walked into the misty night and was gone.
