"Does he even really love you?" Elodie asked. "Or he just putting on an act?"
I felt blood dripping down my face, probably from a deep scratch. I brought my hand back, ready to punch her in her flawless face, but unfortunately, somebody pulled me off of her.
"Blanchard, Beaumont, that is enough!" I surprised to realize that the vice-principal was the one who was talking.
Aiden had my arms pinned behind my back while one of Elodie's many ex-boyfriends had her locked into what looked like a bear hug.
"He loves me! I know he does!" I growled.
"Chicago, let's not worry about this now!" Aiden remarked. "You and Garrett can work everything out later."
I willed myself to keep my mouth shut. Yelling insults towards Elodie wasn't going to help my case in any way. It would be best if I actually used my common sense this time.
"Both of you are coming straight to my office!" Mrs. Howell exclaimed, tearing us both away from our friends' grasps.
Elodie gave me a dirty look which I ignored. I needed to learn how to control my temper which might be impossible based on the fact that I live in a house full of hormonal boys.
Mrs. Howell was obviously going to call my parents.
I had a feeling that my phone wouldn't be in my possession tonight.
•••
My leg bounced up and down as impatiently waited for Elodie to leave the vice-principal's office. Mrs. Howell insisted that she wanted to talk to each of us separately. In my opinion, that wasn't a good idea, but I was expected to keep my mouth shut.
"How did you do that?"
I turned my head to look at the brunette boy sitting next to me. He was one of the new kids Kailyn was talking about because I hadn't seen him around before. Also, she was right. He wasn't bad looking.
"I'm sorry, what?"
I was a totally idiot.
"How did you hurt your head?" The boy pointed to the ice pack that I had pressed against my forehead. "Did you fall?"
I shook my head. "I actually got in this fight with a girl. She said something really insulting about my boyfriend."
The boy bowed his head, twiddling his fingers. "Oh, that's too bad."
I've decided that his boy wasn't half bad. Most of the new kids that appeared were complete snobs, like Elodie and her group of friends. This boy seemed down to Earth and he seemed to actually care about people's well-being too.
"I'm Tyler Joseph," he blurted out, extending his hand towards me for a friendly handshake.
I grinned, accepting it. "Nice to meet you, Tyler Joseph. I'm Chicago Beaumont."
Tyler's eyebrows shot up. "Chicago? That's an interesting name."
I scoffed. "Yeah, if you call being named after the city you were conceived in interesting."
"That's really why your parents named you Chicago?" Tyler asked with disbelief on his face. "I really like the uniqueness of it, but I wouldn't have that meaning behind it."
"Tell me about it." I rolled my eyes. "But if you think my name is interesting you'll love my older brother's. His name is Denahi."
If possible, Tyler's eyes widened even more. "What's his name?"
"Denahi," I responded back. "It's pronounced De-NA-hee."
"Your family sure likes being different."
"I know, and guess what?"
"What?"
"The name Denahi comes from Alaska and that's where he as conceived at."
"You got to be kidding me!"
I couldn't hold back my laughter any longer as Tyler's face turned into a look of awe. "I'm kidding on that one, Tyler! However, Denahi is associated with Alaska."
Tyler studied my face for a moment. "Are you sure I can trust you?"
I raised my eyebrows. "You should be able to answer that question by yourself."
Before Tyler could speak one more word, we were interrupted. "Tyler, we got to go."
I lifted my head to see a boy with bright blue hair. He was staring at Tyler with his arms crossed and I was absolutely speechless.
This said boy was beautiful. He had a very muscular build and his eyes were the color of rich chocolate. I was fascinated by the beautiful colors that were covering his biceps. His hair was also something I was fascinated with. Not many people had the courage to dye their hair bright colors and when I did meet someone, especially of the opposite sex, that had a unique color, I was blown away.
Then it hit me. He must be the one that was dating Elodie.
"It was nice meeting you, Chicago," Tyler smiled as he got out of his chair.
His friend held the office door open for him and Tyler quickly stepped out.
I watched the unnamed boy follow after him before turning back around to peek his head around the door frame.
"By the way, cool name. It matches your hair."
