Anna's Pov

"Oh my goodness gracious! It's happening! It's finally happening!" I exclaimed, squealing frantically. I paced around my room, fanning my face from the recent news.

"What happened?" my best friend questioned. His face showed utter confusion, his eyebrows raised as I practically danced around him. Well, flailing my arms around while doing some unusual footwork with my legs to be exact; if you consider it dancing.

"ONE DIRECTION RELEASED A NEW MUSIC VIDEO!" I screamed. "Drag Me Down" blasted throughout the room, and I pointed frantically to the handsome boys plastered across my phone screen. "MY BABIES! Oh my goody gracious, look at them! LEWIS, NEIL, HAROLD, LIMA BEAN! I'm so happy they stayed together as a band after Zayn left!"

David rolled his eyes saying, "Shut up about your happy crappy boy band stuff, let's go to school already. I swear, your screeching sounds like cats falling from the sky, clawing and blinding poor little children who wanted Dunkin' Donuts that day."

"Uh what the plop? You're just... ugh never mind, I have no words to describe your weird statements you call 'insults'." I quoted using my fingers. "Hurry up! We're gonna be late for the glimpse of hell that people call 'School'." I took a final glance at my reflection on my vanity mirror and rushed downstairs, towards the front door. In the meantime, as well as snatching a granola bar from the counter top and stuffing the contents in my mouth.

"Hey! Wait for me!" David yelled from behind.

I knew I wasn't much of a good athlete, so it wasn't really much of a surprise when it didn't take long before he had caught up to me.

"I hate you." he muttered, running his hands through his blond hair.

"Boohoo! You know you love me." I pouted, looking up at his amused face with my "oh-so" adorable puppy eyes.

"Sadly, yes." He held a glint of amusement in his eye. He held my hand in his and pulled me to his side, protectively keeping me close to him.

I gazed at my shoes, trying to hide my blush. I frantically attempted to cover my tomato red face with a blanket of my hair. Oh, the things this boy does to me.

Ever since I was a baby, David had always been there for me through all the joyful and difficult times. We were always there for each other. Our mothers were high school best friends, and the moment they had introduced us to each other when we were barely toddlers, everything just clicked. Although time passed and both of our parents had drifted away from each other, David and I remained strong as ever. It wasn't until Kindergarten when I had finally found out I liked the blue eyed toddler.

I admired his bright eyes, his oddly wonderful scent, his contagious smile, and especially his outrageously optimistic personality. Despite all of these things, I was also fond of his flaws. I loved the way he would sometimes be afraid to tell a person the truth because he didn't want to hurt their feelings, even though it was something completely ridiculously. I even loved his ability to spread his love so easily, and he would tend to fall in love so easily.

However, the downside of it all was that it had always pained me to hear the constant rumors that spread throughout school about David fancying certain kinds of girls. Gossip was really frequent and shockingly evolved quickly in our school. As if it couldn't get worse, it hurt more finding out from him that the rumors were true.

I sighed to myself and trudged along by his side, resting my head on his shoulder.

"How's Darcy?" I questioned, fiddling with our interlocked fingers.

"Pretty good! We had a mini movie night in the living room yesterday." He answered admiringly. David had a really close relationship with his little sister, and he would constantly spoil her to death. It was very astonishing to see a such close bond between siblings. Instead of bickering and fighting all the time, they were practically joined at the hip. It was adorable to say the least. Me, being the only child in my family, it was pretty lonely knowing I didn't have a friend at home to always play with.

"And you didn't care to invite me?!" I mockingly accused. I wagged my finger in front of his face and tsked loudly, making sure to annoy him as much as possible. Hey, that's what best friends are for.

"Don't worry, we'll have our movie date some night." He grinned, hugging me from my side and snuggling his nose into my shoulder. Ah, the perks of having your crush as your best friend.
