A Sinking Superhero (NightwingXReader)

Impulse

When we arrived at the apartment, I unlocked the door and walked right in, and felt a little nuzzle on my leg. I bent down and picked up the creature, petting it softly from its neck to its tail. "Sorry, Nightwing, I forgot to mention I have a rabbit. Will he be alright if I bring him to the mountain?"

"Yeah, sure, I don't think anyone's allergic, so I think we'll be good."

"Cool," I say, dropping Cotton to let him roam around the apartment. After packing all of my things up, which isn't much, we strap the bags onto the bikes and head towards mount justice, only to be encountered by Cheshire, a very unexpected surprise.

She dropped in front of us on the road, blocking the entrance to the mountain. "Who's the little girlfriend you got there, Nightwing?" Said Cheshire, slowly stalking towards us.

"She's not my girlfriend Cheshire," He stepped off the bike, taking his baton from his back, whipping it out and striking at Cheshire, having her counter against him with her baton. "and her name is Shadow, and I wouldn't underestimate her," Nightwing says, continuing to battle against her.

"Shadow, go ahead to headquarters; I sent you a map on how to get there on my helmet," He says, dodging a fist from Cheshire. He blocks her fists with his baton but is then hit in the gut and drops to the ground. Quickly, I gather up my things and run towards headquarters, wearing the helmet while carrying everything I own, typing the password in, and throwing my stuff into the HQ.

I run back towards Nightwing, trying to get there before Cheshire causes more trouble. I see Cheshire go in for another blow, knocking Nightwing to the ground. I sneak up behind Cheshire and swipe my leg underneath hers, making her fall to the ground with a thud, giving me enough time to pull Nightwing up off the ground and towards the bikes. We both jump on the bikes and speed back to headquarters, hoping that Cheshire wouldn't follow us back.

After putting our bikes in the garage, we walk into the kitchen of HQ. Nightwing grabs an apple off the counter and tosses it to me. I bite and smile at the ripe, juicy, sweet taste. I looked over to my left and saw Cotton sitting in his carrier. I smiled and was just about to take him out when a flash zoomed past me and ran out of the kitchen, leaving the carrier cage door open and Cotton missing from the crate.

I quickly jump over the counter and look at the ground. A bunch of muddy footprints were scattered across the floor. I quickly followed the footsteps, finding myself in what seemed to be Impulse's room. I quietly looked in the doorway and watched him play with my rabbit, who looked so happy to be in a different room. I then turned around and left the two be. I walked into the kitchen, seeing Nightwing smirking and leaning against the counter. I chuckled and walked over and sat on the counter beside him.

"I'm assuming you took your rabbit back from Impulse?"

"Shut it, smart Alec," I said, laughing and finishing off my apple.

"When can I meet the rest of the team?" I said, throwing my apple towards the trash can and missing completely. I huffed angrily and then used telekinesis, moving the apple from the ground into the trash can.

Nightwing had a questionable look but was distracted after looking at my arm. He grabbed it and looked at the foreign writing on my wrist. He was just about to ask when superboy walked into the room. He let go of my wrist and walked over to Superboy.

I jumped off the counter and did the same, glancing up at him, recognizing the resemblance between him and superman. I held out my hand, and he shook it. "I"m Shadow, the newest member of the young justice league."

"Pleasure to meet you; I'm Superboy, assuming you already know." He glanced at Nightwing and nodded, walking off to do something. There was a glance between Nightwing and my eyes before a loud alarm rang through the building.
