Lily and Sirius became best friends after Lily and James began dating.
I mean not like the canon friends they were, I mean hard core,
they braided each other's hair.
They had movie nights that MAYBE James and Marlene were allowed to attend. MAYBE, if they brought snacks.
They had little inside jokes with each other that drove James insane, but James secretly loves that they had a love like that. Lily and Sirius weren't in love, like James and Lily, but they loved each other like best friends should.
