"Yuki, get up!  You're going to be late for school!"  I heard my older brother scream up the stairs.  I lifted my head from my pillow, my hair in a shambling mess.  Can't I just stay in bed for the day?  That way I don't have to deal with this new school.

"I swear to Satan, if you don't get your butt up, I'm going to drag you."  His voice was closer now, almost like it was feet away.  I groaned, keeping my eyes closed.  I shifted in my bed, putting my back to him.

"Go away.  I don't wanna go."  Silence greeted me.  Did he leave?  Just as I was about to check something grabbed me by my ankles.  My eyes popped open just before someone started dragging me off of my bed.  I screeched, clawing at the covers to keep me there.

The covers came with me.

I landed on my back with a loud sound.  Cold immediately greeted me since my floor was consisted of wood, with one small rug by my bed.  Unfortunately, I wasn't pulled that way.  Whoever pulled me out of bed was going to be ripped a new one.

A boy with shaggy brown hair stood above me.  He had his arms crossed over his broad chest.  He was dressed in a plain red shirt with jeans.  His big green eyes stared down at me, overflowing with irritation.

"Ow, what the heck Kanako?  I was going to get up." I groaned, irritated.  My hands went to my face, covering my eyes due to the fact that when he came in he made it a point to turn on the light.

"Yeah, in three months.  Get up.  Breakfast is on the table." I felt my lips curl into a pout shape.  When I didn't move he made his way over to my door.  "And if you're not down there in ten minutes, I'm going to throw water on you."  He sauntered off after that, leaving me to decide if he was going to go along with his threat. I didn't want to risk it.  I dragged myself off of the hardwood floor, using my bed for support.  My brother has been acting like this ever since a few months ago.  Our parents were on their way to a business trip when they suddenly disappeared without a trace.  We had to move schools three times until we've settled on the one that I'm going to later this morning.  But ever since then, Kanako has taken over the parent role.

So far he sucks at it.

Once I was able to get on my feet, I made my way to my mirror and checked my reflection.  My bright pink hair stuck out in all different directions, leaving the impression that I had slept outside.  But if I had to compare my hair to my huge sapphire eyes, my hair won for the most noticeable physical feature ever.  And before you ask, no I didn't dye my hair pink.  I was born with pink hairs sprouting from my bald head.

Which was completely and utterly strange.

Everyone else in my family had a different shade of brown hair.  I always thought that due to this strange feature that there was a possibility that I was adopted.  I even decided to take a DNA test to prove my theory.  But each time I took it, the results remained the same.  I was in fact related to my family.

So how did my parent's give birth to a pink hair child?  I'll get to that later.

I fluffed up my pink hair before grabbing a ponytail from the handle of my brush.  Without giving a care for the outcome, I pulled my hair into a ponytail, not even bothering to tuck back the stray strands.  My hair is nearly impossible to manage in the morning, so the best I could do is put it up and hope for the best.

Besides, it wouldn't even make a difference even if I wanted to fix my hair.

I slapped my cheeks with my hands, attempting to wake myself up.  It's just another day, Yuki.  You just have to stay out of people's way.  Try to not get noticed and you'll be fine.

Good pep talk.

"Yuki!"  Kanako roared from downstairs.  I let out a huge sigh before bolting out of my room and down the stairs.  I jumped down the stairs two at a time before making a solid landing at the bottom.  I held my hands out to stabilize myself before I waltzed my way into the kitchen.

Kanako gave me a sideways glance before putting down a butter knife.

"I'd give it a seven, maybe seven and a half at most."  Wow, a lot better than last time.  I slammed myself into one the of the chairs as my brother set down a plate in front of me.  What greeted me was two pieces of slightly burned toast. Oh and let's not forgot the over amount of butter dripping off of the sides like a volcano.  My eyes glanced from my brother to the plate in front of me.  I didn't say anything.

Instead, I glanced over at the clock.  I had a minute before I was supposed to leave for this 'new school' thing.  This led my mind over to a mental picture of me running down the street with a piece of toast in my mouth.  It looked like I was trying to make it to school so I wouldn't be late.  The image stopped with me running into the school right as the bell rang.

I shook my head, frustrated at the mental picture.  I rubbed my eyes, trying to blur out the mental picture.

Not this again...

For as long as I could remember I've been having this mental images appear in my mind.  Their little reminders of events that are trying to claw their way into my life.  Usually, they try everything they can to make sure they come true.  And when I mean 'they' I'm referring to the forces of nature that drive the world.

I've given them the honor of naming them cliches.

I do everything I can to make sure that these don't happen.  It's practically my life goal at this point.  And I'm not going to stop until these cliches finally move onto somebody else.

Taking one bite of the toast, I stood up from the chair.  Kanako eyed me, finally sitting down at the table.  He too had a plate with toast on it.  But his didn't look like a disaster like mine did.

"You're not going to eat."  I shook my head, feeling the stands of my pink hair shake around my face.

"Nah, I have school remember?  Don't want to be late like every other time in my life."  What I said was meant to be a joke, but Kanako didn't take it that way.  Instead, he sighed, taking a bite of his own toast.

He didn't say anything else as I walked over to the doorway and took my dear sweet time putting on my shoes and grabbing my backpack.

"See ya later bro, have a good day at school."  I didn't wait for his response as I walked out of the house, making sure I didn't grab a piece of toast in hand.

One point for me, zero for the cliche that is my life.
