Chapter One
The bell went off and the children ran outside the school. It was a cool Friday afternoon and everyone was eager to go home, except for a little boy who just sat on the swing, waiting perhaps for his guardian.
"Hey!" A little girl called.
He didn't need to look to find out who the girl was.
"You're rude. When someone calls you, you should respond." The girl said as she approached him.
"You didn't call me. You just shouted 'Hey'." The boy answered as he swung back and forth.
"Anyway, what are you doing here? Let's go home."
"I'm not going home with you today. Mom will come."
"Oh." The girl sat on the swing beside him.
"Aren't you going home?" He asked her.
"No. Not yet."
"But your family car is already there."
"And you're still here."
"So?" The boy thought that couldn't really understand her.
"I'll wait with you." She turned towards him with a big smile. "So you won't feel lonely."
"Huh." He felt something tug inside of him when she smiled.
