Chasing Grey

Chapter 12

A camera shuttered below me.
"Well hello there, Jacqueline."
"Hi, Eric... May I ask what you're doing up there?" She asked, shaking the Polaroid, now in her hand.
"Just taking in this beautiful morning." I joked.
She looked up at me, clearly confused.
"'Beautiful?' ...are you sure? It looks like it's about to rain, look at the storm clouds over there. 
It's so... grey."  She said.
"Maybe I like grey."
Jacqueline rolled her eyes and looked down at the picture.
"This one's a keeper, that's for
sure"
I hopped down from the roof.
"Let me see."
"No!" She shoved the Polaroid in her back pocket and took off running.
I sprinted behind her "Why not?"
No answer.
I looked back to see the bus coming down the street extremely slowly and tripped... over Jacqueline.
We both fell into a tangled jumble of arms and legs and I did something that I've always thought was overrated and had said I'd never do-
I tickled her.
Giggles erupted from the Jacqueline I once knew as grey, while rain started to splatter on the back of my neck.
"Stop!" She squealed.
"Give me the picture!"
She looked me in the eyes and smirked making my heart skip a beat.
"Never."
The bus pulled up behind us an jerked to a halt. I stood and held out my hand to Jacqueline. She reluctantly took it and I pulled her to her feet.
She had pianist fingers. Long and slender with her nails painted black and a thin silver ring on her left pinky.
Thunder cracked in the distance and I began to hear steady, quick rainfall coming down all around us. The sound, the smell, the feeling of "grey" was perfect.
I tried not to smile while we were getting on the bus, yet the corners of my mouth kept turning up uncontrollably. 
What was this girl doing to me?
