The Next Day
Ashley gathered up her things for another day of school.
As she was driving to school she couldn't help but think, "It's another day of fake smiles and meaningless conversation at Fordemont High-School. "
When you are so broken it's impossible to keep pushing through. When you smile even though you are dying inside. This is the real world. Wake up people.
Ashley Parks her car in front of the school and heads on to first period, as on of her friends stops to talk with her. "Ashley I'm so sorry for the grief you must be feeling right now. You know I'm always here if you need me. "
Thanks Annabella, I appreciate it but in all honestly I don't need your fake sympathy right now it anyone else" Ashley beings to look around and notice people staring as her voice gets louder with each word until she's practically yelling. She turns to them, "What the fuck are all you people staring at. Leave me the fuck alone. The lot of you "
I clutch my books as I scurry to the restroom and precedes to sit in the stall. Take slow calming breaths, you'll be fine. It's just a few more days until you are out of here. But can I handle a few more days? I'm 18. Why the hell don't o just drop out. Not like nothing is stopping me.
So with this new found realization, she gets up and walks straight to the office where the old lady is sitting on the phone. "I need a form to drop out, now!." Ashley demanded.
The lady, Mrs. Genevieve, looks to her and gathers up the form from the file cabinet. "Now young lady. You treat your elders with respect. You aren't a no good drop out just yet. Are you sure you want to do this Miss? " Genevieve says to me.
"You are Damn right I want to do this."
"Language Miss. Here sign right there " As she points to the line that determines my future from here on out. I grab up the pen and scribble my name on the paper and then head right on out of this God forsaken place, jump in my car with 65,000 in the bank, ready to be used. I finally get start my NEW life as an eighteen year old drop out,(Not what one would think they'd be doing) far far away from Dallas Texas.
