I stared straight at my closet looking for something to wear. I finally decided on a t-shirt and skinny jeans. Where’s my manners? The name is Newman…Lola Newman. Right now I’m heading off to hang with my bff, Vallie. I have been friends with her since the first grade. I was and still am a very shy person so when my mom dropped me off at school I normally huddled in the corner with my Barbie doll and stayed to myself. I stopped playing with my Barbie doll when I saw a big shadow hovering over me. I looked up to see a tall girl with platinum blonde hair and big blue eyes wearing a pink flowery dress and pigtails. While I was gawking at her beautiful features her voiced ruined the image.
“hey, shy girl! Do you want to play ball?”
Under that girly image, I saw a tomboy trying to break through. I said yes and at the end of the day I ended up with mud all over me. However, it was worth it because I became friends with an amazing girl. Coming back from the flashback I was staring at myself in the mirror. I have brown hair and brown eyes. I’m average height for a girl and I looked like plain Jane. I left my bedroom to go downstairs to get my phone. I was the only one in my house right now because my mom and dad was working. My mom is an interior designer and my dad works on the stock market. I heard a honk from outside and knew it was Vallie. I walked outside and locked the front door. At the same time, my arch-enemy, Adam, was leaving his house to go to his friend’s house.
”like the outfit Lola! Are you going to the city dump? You probably fit in with the other homeless people there!”
I shot him a dirty look and said, ”No, I’m actually going to your mother and telling her that she should have gotten an abortion when she was pregnant with you!”
Before he could come with a good comeback, I ran to vallie’s car and jumped in the front seat.
“Aloha sister from another mother! Ready for the mall? And I think he has a crush on you La!” said Vallie.
I snorted and said, “Ready for the hours upon hours of looking at the same clothing. And he does not like me. I rather kill myself then go on a date with him!”
Vallie shook her head and fired up the car. While she was starting the car let me tell you guys why I hate Adam Abbott so much. It all started in first grade….
****FLASHBACK****
“Give it back!” I screamed. It was recess time and I was playing with my favorite Barbie doll in the corner of the building because Vallie was sick today. All of a sudden, this big tall boy with brown shaggy hair and blue eyes was standing in front of me. He took my Barbie doll and violently trying to rip its head off.
“Why are you playing with dumb toys during recess? It’s so stupid, it doesn’t even look real.” He said. I started to cry and screamed, ”let her go! She my favorite toy!” He completely ripped her head off and through her body in the mud. He was laughing with his gang of boys around him. All of a sudden, this burst of anger filled me up and I jumped on him like a tiger going for the kill. With my luck, the teacher stopped us and we both got detention. We both left with pink bruises on our faces and hands. You’re wondering who the boy was? None other than Adam Abbott. Ever since that day I made a pledge to my now dead Barbie doll that I will always hate him and I tend not to break my promises. While Vallie was babbling on about gossip and clothing I thought about my hateful relationship with Adam and wondering will there ever be a change in it?
