Cole's POV (Point Of View):

Song for this chapter: Use Somebody by; Boyce Avenue

As soon as I had just finished telling Drew I lived in 316, she smiling quickly and then stopped.

I wondered if she was going through what I was going through. Or maybe something as traumatic. The noise of the elevator awoke me from my train of thought.

"Well this is it!" I said gesturing grandly with my hand and making a big show of myself which seemed to make her giggle.

I strode past a couple doors until we reached her apartment. "Thank you so much, Cole, for helping me." She said as she got her key out of her pocket ,unlocked the door, and stepped inside.

I miserably walked to my door, fumbled with my key, and instantly knew the day was about to get a whole lot worse.

I saw my father laying on the couch passed out in his usual hangover haze. I could tell he went out drinking and partying again last night because he and a girl years younger than him walked in around three in the morning.

I only knew that much because they made a big fuss getting into the apartment and in the process woke me up.

I crept past him in fear he might wake. If he did I had an inkling of an idea of what would go down. He would probably hit me for not waking him and scold me for still not being able to get a job still in his hangover haze.

Later I would walk to the bathroom to inspect my new bruises and injuries. Probably try to cover them a little with makeup leftover by one of his guests.

Then I would come up with yet another excuse like "Oh, I just tripped going down the stairs." Or something like that.

His wrath was getting unbearable but he is my father so what could I really do?

All of these thoughts crossed my mind as I carefully made my way to my room down the hall. I got my phone out of my pocket and texted my girlfriend, Britney.

She has no idea about my dad. When she asks if we can hang out I make up something like my dad has a girl over... she's spending the night...

So basically when she sees my bruises she thinks I'm a total klutz with a capital K.

When she replied I find she's just unpacking from her big trip to Califronia. Luckily I do have an excuse today that actually is true. I realized dad wouldn't be slaphappy today.

I had just heard back from the pizza place below our apartment complex. I had found a job.

Once I told that her that I had finally acquired a job, Britney she told me she loves a man in uniform. Boy, did I miss her.

Today was our first day back from spring break and I go to an all boys school which is pretty unfortunate for me being a lady's man and all.

After my shift today I agreed to meet her for ice cream.

Her favorite ice cream place no less ,Deliciously Sweet, Which was on 32nd street about a block from where I lived.

I finished texting Brit I then I quickly looked over myself in the bathroom mirror. I didn't look like myself. Usually I wasn't this thin and pale except for my bruises... Bags under my eyes accompanied by dark circles and stress lines, a few break outs and pimples because of all the duress I had been experiencing lately.

I only took this job so I could pay for groceries which dad conveniently and frequently forgot to buy. The only thing he did remember to pay for was my idiotic preppy school.

I grabbed the keys off my desk, pulled on one of my hoodies, and walked out the door. As I pressed the button to descend my phone buzzed in my pocket.

It was Brit confirming I would be there for sure and not flake out again. I liked her too much and the lies kept piling up I couldn't keep doing this, but I told her I wouldn't miss it for the world.

The ding of the elevator signaled I had arrived for my first day of work. Steve, the owner, approached me when I stepped off the elevator and into the pizza palor.

"Here" He said with a straight face as he handed me an apron with my name on it. " You'll start off working as the custodian."

I put on the apron and did as I was instructed. First I was moping the floor. Then I cleaned the restrooms and then I did the dishes with a gigantic industrial dishwasher.

It's a miracle I managed to get around without getting into too much trouble.

After I was done I said goodbye to Steve and walked down the block to meet Brit.

As I got there she was pulling in in front of Deliciously Sweet. She locked her car then came to greet me with a "I missed you kiss and hug".

I pulled out a chair for her ,as she glided towards me, from the table sitting in front of the shop. "Why Thank You, Kind Sir! Ever are you so chivalrous!" she said with a Southern accent and drawl to match,"Your quite Welcome, My Lady!" I said Acting medieval.

I took a step back to admire her. God did she look beautilful...Her dark hair curled to perfection and her eyes bright and clear.

She wasn't really tan form her spring break trip to the beach which wasn't surprising . She burnt like a cookie and had to wear tons of sunscreen. She looked amazing in the dress she was wearing .

"Take a picture it might last longer" she said striking a pose a sign she had notice my staring.

"Sorry it's just...my girlfriends so cute I can't help it" I said innocently starring at the ground and running a hand through my already messy hair.

I was really enjoying having her back.I missed her so much in the past couple of weeks ,but being a guy I was not like to admit it.

"Oh I know" she said pulling me in for a kiss, "I just wanted to hear it from you."

We kissed there for a minute. I sucked on her soft lips gently. She tenderly nibbled on mine noticably enjoying herself being back as much as I did.

When we both finally we just looked into each others eyes.

"What?" I asked as I saw tears start to rim her eyes "You know I love you right?"

I was shocked. I mean sure we said in texts and stuff like that but we've never really talked about it. This felt different. Real.It felt real.

I knew in my heart it was true. We had been through a lot. So I took my arms wrapped them around her into one of my famous hugs and just held her there. Then I whispered to her "I know. I love you too."

We stood there like that for what seemed to be forever then when we broke apart smiled then I said " Now how about that ice cream?"

She smiled and wipped the stray tears away from her face with her arm as she laugh and lightly jabbed me. I would do just about anything to see that smile.
