"Alright we've got an L.D.S.K on our hands, he's meticulous and doesn't miss a single shot. However he is devolving, he is not killing as many as he feels he should and he is building sloppy bombs to finish the rest off but seems to be upgrading the power of the bombs each time." Aaron informed us

"He has killed 12 people in the last 7 days and is upping his count each day" Detective Sanchez included

"We need to get working now!" Hotch finished as he gathered up his files and walked off to his office, I was right on his heels as I closed the door behind us in the office

"What the hell Aaron! An L.D.S.K are you serious? You're calling me in for this! You know I was never good at profiling these bastards" I spat furiously

"Darcy right now it's not about what you can and can't do it's about saving this god damn city from mass hysteria if they find out what's really going on!" Aaron argued

I turned away from him to try calm myself, this wasn't going to finish tonight.

"You need to call the travel agency" I said slowly as I turned around

"What?" he answered confused

"You need to cancel the fucking holiday" I raised my voice realising I wasn't quite calm just yet

"Oh Darce, I'm so sorry, look the team can handle this without me" he said softly as he moved towards me

"Don't fool yourself Aaron this is probably the most serious case you've had this year, you're not going to walk out on your team now" I sighed as his arms wrapped around me

"I'm so sorry" he whispered

"Forget about it" I mumbled as I pulled away from him and walked out of the office

We spent all night going over files, crime scene photos and witness statements, I certainly didn't miss this part of the job. The next morning we came back with fresh eyes and decided to visit the crime scene. The media was everywhere, this was getting out of control very quickly and we were just waiting for our next victim.

We drove back to the field office with just as much information as we had this morning, which was nothing. This guy left absolutely nothing! No fibres, no casings, nothing! We sat around the desk trying to find something, trying to say what hadn't already been pointed out a thousand times! I hadn't spoken to Aaron since our spat last night and quite frankly I wasn't in the mood to talk to him anyway. As we sat there in hopelessness, Detective Brook burst through the glass door of the conference room.

"Sir, he's got a hostage" he blurted out to Hotch

"What?" Hotch looked up in confusion

"The sniper, he saw the media coverage and he wasn't happy about it! He's got a hostage in an abandoned apartment block in Brooklyn, reports from the P.D there say it's a child, female, no more than a year old but they can't get an accurate I.D or a clear shot on the sniper" Brook said hurried

We all jumped from the table immediately and made our way to the cars.

"Darce" Hotch began as he started to drive

"Not now Aaron, we can't do this right now" I said pissed off

"Darcy I'm sorry, I really mean that! There's nothing I wanted more than to finally spend some time with you" He said apologetically

"I said not now Aaron" I barked and that was the end of it

We pulled up outside the apartment and met with the Detectives on scene.

"Have you gotten an ID on the kid yet" I asked in a serious tone

"18 month old Katherine Beckett, the Sniper took her from a foster home this morning. He has sent demands, the media is to back off and he needs a safe getaway from here" Detective Sanchez said

"Not happening" I spat "we need to get SWAT in there and we need to take him out" I ordered

"We have SWAT doing a search now, we're waiting for them to get the lay of the building, the sniper has a view on us and if he sees us making a serious move he will kill her and possibly us too" Sanchez tried to reason with me

"Sir" a member of the SWAT team approached Sanchez

"What is it Captain Marx?" Sanchez diverted his attention to the captain

"He has the ground beneath him wired up, we believe it to be C4" Marx said with utter seriousness

"What?" I turned as I heard what he said "are you kidding me" I yelled "we need to get in there before that son of a bitch blows us all to hell and back" I spat

"Ma'am it's not safe to act now, he is in control of the detonator" Marx answered

"I'm going in" I said

"Agent Blake you can't be serious" Sanchez's face dropped as he heard my words

"I'm not letting that little girl die, do you hear me? And I'm certainly not going to let these men die either" I raised my voice in return

I put on my Kevlar vest and added an extra gun to my hip as I began to walk towards the building. Hotch caught sight of me and ran towards me.

"Darcy what the hell do you think you're doing?" Aaron asked furiously

"I'm saving your ass" I mumbled as I brushed past him

I entered the building and drew my weapon as I quietly made my way up the concrete stairs to where the sniper was with the little girl.

"Sir, I need you to give me that little girl" I called out

"What are you doing in here Agent, I can blow us all to pieces right now if you want" he called back, his voice gruff and dry

"You don't want to do that. You've got a child, her name is Katherine, she's only 18 months old, are you really going to end her life like that? That's not your style is it Henry?" I replied

When the rest of the team were banging their heads against brick walls I decided to take the case home, I studied it all night and found one thing that connected each crime scene, something I had seen before. One single piece of paper, one single number and I knew the signature straight away, this was the bastard I missed last time. Henry Chambers. My first year in the Bureau he wreaked havoc in Florida and before we could catch him he went off the grid completely. Now he was back and i couldn't let him slip this time! I decided not to tell anyone my findings because I knew it would come to this and I needed the upper hand.

"How do you know who I am?" he called out surprised

"Oh I've known you for quite sometime Henry" I had a grin of menace on my face as I walked around the last corner of the top floor and saw him with his back to me

"Now give me the child Henry" I growled

** Hotch's P.O.V. **

"Get her out of there" I yelled towards SWAT

"Sir it's not safe, she clearly has built rapport with the unsub, if we storm the building now we could all be blown to pieces" Captain Marx replied calmly

"You need to get her out of that building now" I growled to Detective Sanchez

In that moment, in just one click, the building before us exploded and was completely engulfed in flames. It felt as if the whole world had stopped and was about to come crashing down. I needed to get to Darcy, I couldn't lose her, I couldn't lose my world.

"DARCY NO" I screamed as I ran towards the building

"Agent Hotchner stand back" Captain Marx yelled as he held me back

"Darcy" I yelled at the top of my lungs as I struggled against the Captain's hold

"Darcy" I cried one last time before they dragged me off
