I wake up before the sun does. A sweet memory of before drifts into my mind and I remember my mom telling me "Early bird gets the worm Bellamy!". But if it was up to me, I would sleep in and enjoy the bed. With all this travel, it feels like I hardly get enough sleep. But I know we have to get moving again.

For the past few months it has been like this, ever since our Enclave got overrun by the restless. We lost a lot, but we were starting to be careless. I thought of it as a wake up call.

I get up and finish changing as soon as someone knocks on my door "Hey, are you up?" Its the group leader Sean. "Yeah, be out in a sec" I open my door to the hallway with my backpack and my belongings in it.

The plan was to leave the old ratty house before the sun rises so we can get a head start on getting farther away from the cities. We 6 people in our group. The leader Sean, his 8 year old daughter Sam, Sam's mom Kate, 21 year old Jack, 29 year old Chris, and me.

Once we all ate some dried fruit, we gathered the rest of our things and left. We continued heading north. It's been slow going because of Sam always complaining. It's not her fault, it's being 8 years old that makes you a whiny mess.

The truth is, I've been wanting to get apart from this group. I've been stuck with them for the past 3 months. We have been close numerous times to being killed by the restless because we weren't being careful. Me and Jack are the only ones that know how to fight and can fight well. So if I leave, they will still have Jack.

The only thing that's holding me back is that we are still too close to the cities. Once we get out of New Jersey you can consider me gone. I already made the note to leave them once I do leave. It says "Don't worry, don't look for me. I wish you all well. Thank you for everything."

I know that if I stay with this group, I will die. My moms dying wish was for me to live. No matter the cost and I guess that's what I'm going to do.

As we walk, Kate is talking to Sam about what the world used to be like. As she is talking memories float past my mind as I think of what it used to be like. It was only 2 years ago, I was 15 so I still remember. I remember going to school, hanging out with my dad in his office after hours, or going to my training classes.

My parents were in the government before, and they always knew something bad was going to happen never exactly what, but they knew shit was gonna hit the fan soon. So they put me in all these different training classes for it. My fighting skills were at its peak when the world went straight to hell. So at least it was good timing.

I used to live in the Upper East Side in Manhattan that way, my parents could get to work in the city easily. I had a big house and I was luckily the only child. I had no friends because people didn't like that I seemed so dark and scary. When the truth is, I just don't like people at my school. But it was for the best because with my busy schedule, I had no time for anything else.

The sound of Sam starting to whine again jolted me out of my past and into the present.  We must have been walking for a few hours. We already had to stop a few times so Sam could pee. I look up off from the ground and I see a pack of the restless crossing the streets ahead.

At the same exact moment I saw them Jack says "Aww shit! Ok, come on B, let's proceed to kick their asses"

Ok I decided to get rid of The Cheat, I couldn't think of anything and it was bad so I just went with this.
Hope you like it. Or don't.
