(Adrian's POV)

I sat watching Bree twist and turn in the sheets. She had been doing this since she fell asleep a couple of hours ago after endless talking about nothing. After I had told her what I used to be like I was sure she would want me to leave but she still insisted I stayed with her, and even after she had fallen asleep I felt compelled to stay. I knew that the reason her face twisted in pain it was because of my brother, and partly myself.

I blew out a sighful breath, biting down on my bottom lip. Fuck it, she could get back at me later I told myself as I lifted the bed sheets and moved in beside her quietly. I pulled her close to my chest and she stilled in my arms, no longer looking pained. I gently trailed my fingertips across the top of her collar bone where the scars had yet to heal, before placing a gentle kiss on it, trying to rid Drakes mark on her.

I drifted off and when I awoke Bree was no where to be seen, I looked around panicked, feeling a sense of deja vu from the last time when I had woke up and she was gone. But then the bathroom door opened and out stepped a damp looking Bree trailing a cloud of steam behind her.

She avoided my gaze awkwardly as she moved around the room getting dressed. I sat up in the bed and ran my hand through my messy hair, trying to smooth it out a little.
"So I thought," I started off awkwardly "that maybe we could get out of here for a bit?" I asked. Her head raised with curiosity.
"What you got in mind?"
"Just thought we could go into town for a bit, maybe buy you some new clothes?" he asked. I could tell by her face that spending a day with me wasn't exactly her idea of fun, but I new she wanted clothes of her own. She finally nodded.
"Great, I'll meet you in the downstairs hallway in an hour?" I said heading for the door leaving Bree to get ready. I headed to my own room to grab a quick shower. I hoped that getting Bree out the house for a while would distract her, even for just a moment.

I stepped out the shower and after towelling off I pulled on lose fitting jeans that hung low on my waist, and a casual shirt. I pulled on my scuffed black biker boots and headed down to the hallway realising that almost an hour had already passed.

Bree was already stood waiting, she wore snug black jeans, along with blue vest top, a hoodie pulled over the top of that that I knew she wore to hide the scars. The sun was shining and if she were still human she would have already broke out in sweat. Her naturally wavy hair was pulled into a messy bun at the back of her head.
"You ready?" she asked. I nodded in response. I wanted to compliment her, tell her how beautiful she looked, but I knew that would only make her uncomfortable, and I knew that she would feel uncomfortable enough with what we was about to do. So instead I kept my thoughts to myself and led her outside to the garage. She hesitated as she spotted the motorbike
"We're not going on that are we?" she asked, biting her lip nervously.
"I'm afraid we are, its not necessary but put this on anyway." I said tossing a helmet towards her. She caught it and looked down at it dubiously but put it on anyway and motioned for me to get on first. I did so, and waited in anticipation as she got on behind me, her body pressed against the back of mine. She gripped the sides of my shirt loosely as we took off out of the garage and down the gravel driveway. When we pulled onto the main road I picked up speed and I could feel Bree's hands slowly inch more and more around my stomach.

I slowed as we neared a car park and smoothly pulled into a spot, stopping. Bree quickly hopped off behind me and I stepped away from the motorbike after her. I put her helmet in a small compartment under the seat of the bike and we set off towards the centre of town.
"Where do you want to go first?" I asked, she glanced around, looking at all of the shops.
"There" she pointed to a shop a few doors down. We walked the short distance and stepped into the gloomy store that pounded with music. We walked deeper into the shop, Bree looking at items but quickly moved on every so often. She finally stopped to take a second look at a dress. The top of it was a sky blue corset with intricate design patterned it. From that flowed a short white skirt. Despite its shortness it puffed out in a puffy white cloud of lace. She looked at it longingly and pulled at the small tag that hung from it, her eyes practically bulged. I stepped closer and looked over her shoulders. It was only a couple thousand pound. But I knew that Bree had grew up in a family who never had a great deal of money. After hundreds of years of living I had acquired quite a bit of money.
"Remember I'm paying." I reminded her, encouraging her to buy the dress.
"I know, but I don't need anything that expensive." she said leading the way to the front of the store and out of the door that chimed behind us.
She stopped so suddenly that I walked into the back of her. She quickly turned to face me.
"That's John, over there" she nudged her head to motion behind her.

I looked over the top of her head and scanned the crowd. Hoping I would recognise him from the pictures security had shown me. After a few seconds of scanning I spotted him, but he had already spotted us. I took Bree by the elbow and started leading her away further into the crowd, but behind us we heard yells of protest, and as I looked back I spotted John elbowing his way through the protesting crowd. I paused, taking in the surroundings and looking for an easy exit, but everywhere was cornered off by shopping malls.

I pulled Bree to a stop and waited for the on coming ex boyfriend. I wanted to get out of here for Bree's sake, knowing she had bad history with him, and knowing that being a new born anything could make her snap at any moment. John had caught up now, and we stood in an awkward staring competition until he tried to make a step towards Bree, but I stepped in front of her blocking her from him. He took a step to the side so he could look at her.
"C'mon Bree don't be like that, look I just wana talk babe," he coaxed. I scoffed at his pathetic attempts, and through the connection I had with Bree from being her maker I could feel her blood begin to boil. "Look I know you weren't kidnapped that night, I know you ran away because of me, and I'm sorry for that, but babe, I was thinking about you the whole time." he purred.
"You mean the whole time you was fucking my mom?" I spoke with heavy sarcasm as I pushed past Adrian.
"Lets just forget about that babe, and I'll forget about you and him," he said shooting a glare at Adrian, "and we can get back together, you know we always had a spark." he said pulling Bree's hand into one of his own. I went to intervene but Bree glared back at me making me freeze.
"If its a spark you want I can shove a firework up your ass and watch you light up like a Christmas tree." Bree growled at him before snatching his hand and twisting it so that John winced in pain. "That's for cheating on me you pig1" she twisted further as she jabbed her knee upwards, making contact with his crotch so hard that he fell to the ground cradling his broken manhood. "And that was for cheating on me with my mother!" and with that she stormed off. I looked down at John and then back at Bree with admiration glistening in my eyes.

I caught up with her and walked in silence, still feeling the anger radiating from her. She pulled me into another shop. As she admired the different jeans I watched her. "How come you can fight so good?" I asked finally, having been curious since the day her and I had fought and she had managed to beat me. She selected a few pairs of jeans as she began to speak.
"My father taught me a few things, growing up in my neighbourhood you had to know how to defend yourself. Of course everything he taught me is completely useless against vampires." she muttered heading to the till. We went quiet for a moment whilst the cashier spoke, the usual customer service speeches.

We carried on shopping and walking around for hours after that, she told me all about her father and the things he taught her, I could tell she loved him a lot but I knew she still had some bitter feelings towards him. When we finally returned home, she was glowing with happiness, maybe because of the endless shopping, or maybe I had finally cracked through her barrier.

We stood by the bike, Bree grabbing a handful of bags. "Thanks for getting me out of the house, it made me feel better." she smiled at me as we began the walk to the house. I stopped her at the door, unknown courage suddenly taking over my body, I leaned down and touched my lips to hers, she instantly pulled away.
"Look, I had a good time tonight but that doesn't mean anything has changed between us, you know that right?" I had to admit hearing her say that sent a small needle of pain shooting down my body.
"I know, I was just thinking, how much of this hatred you feel towards me is caused by fear?" I asked, seemingly hitting a nerve as Bree gulped. I know I had no right to be loved by her, but now that we was connected I thought that the feelings of hate would fade, and maybe, maybe she would grow to love me. But I realised that it wasn't just everything that had happened between us that had caused Bree to put a wall up between her and everyone else. I knew she had built it long before me.

"I don't want to fight with you any more Bree, when will you accept me?" I murmured against her skin as I bent lower. I look at her for a moment, waiting for some sort of response. She doesn't say anything, but this time she doesn't move away from me either. I kiss my lips down to hers, brushing them lightly before pulling away, when she makes no effort to move I dip back in, licking my tongue across her smooth lips, taking in her taste. This time I pulled back, not wanting to get too carried away knowing she would think badly of me if I did, despite the fact that I wanted to pick her up and carry her to my bed, I told her I would see her at dinner and we went our separate ways.
