Keep in mind that In every chapter, Sophia is talking to her therapist about her experience with being married to a gang leader...

Sophia's P.O.V

Just 3 years ago my life was turned upside down. I was a sophomore at Palos Verde High and I worked at a small bakery down the street from where I used to live. All that is in the past now because of one decision my parents decided to make.

It all started on August 18th when my parents told me that I would have to leave my old life behind to start a new one. They claimed that everything would be fine and that I'd live a stress-free life. That was a lie...

I ran downstairs and grabbed my car keys off the counter and walks out the door. I didn't see my parents this morning because they work early in the day until about 9:30 p.m.

I parked my Jeep in the school parking lot and made my way into the halls. My school is not your typical high school, there are no popular people or whatever. No bullies everyone is genuinely nice unless you put someone in the wrong position, otherwise, everyone is pretty chill most of the time.

I usually get along with everyone, except my ex-boyfriend, Sean, half the time. I get the fact that he may still have feelings for me but I don't feel the same. I really hope he's not here today, he probably is as usual but I hope not.

I do have a boyfriend on the side his name is Daniel but he's in New York and I don't think we're going to be seeing each other anytime soon.

I dial my combination number in my locker and take out my math and Science book. I feel like screaming in agony because of the class I have next.

I have Early Childhood Education (E.C.E), where you have to walk around with a fake pregnancy belly for two days and then take home a baby for two weeks. Annoying right?

My parents choose my classes this year, don't know why but, they do suck, well except my culinary arts class I get to cook and eat.

First Period

"Class, today we will be making birth certificates for your child. Please line up for a template and fill them out at your desk." Ms. Morrison instructed. I knew exactly what I wanted to name my child.

As soon as I found out what gender the baby was I became overwhelmed with excitement, even though I knew that it would be tough to take care of a child for a whole two weeks and on top of that I had to work, I was still excited.

"So what are you naming your baby ?" My friend, Tracie, asked.

"Umm, Anastasia."

"Anastasia? Really? You're naming your child after your sister?"

My sister, Stassie, went missing in the middle of freshmen year, I haven't seen her since. I rarely even talk about her, it's something that I find frustrating to talk about because I feel like I could have been there for her.

I was with my boyfriend, Sean and she begged me to come home because of something our parents did, but I didn't listen. I came home to a half-empty room and no sister.

I was alone, my parents said that she ran away, but there's no way she took her whole wardrobe with her without a struggle. She's literally a teenage fashion queen. That's what I loved most about her.

"Hey, it's alright I like that name it's cool. I'll catch you at work kay?" Tracie spoke.

I nodded and gathered my things together and headed to the second period.

As I walked to my next class my phone began to buzz, it was a message from none other than my mom.

Text Message:
Mom: come home immediately after school, important things to talk about.

Me: But, I have to work. Can it just wait?

Mom: No, come home after school Sophia!

Me: Fine.

My grades are fine and I'm doing good at the bakery. What could they possibly want to talk about? I hope we're not moving. What if they found Stassie? I definitely want to go home now.
