I rise into the light again, watching Hikaru collapse afterwards.
It might have been mean of me to tease him like that-- by basically popping up when I'm supposed to be long gone. Well, he needed me more than ever then. I could go back, but that would just bring him more pain. Plus, he desperatly needs a lesson on how to move on.
I start on the gift I'm giving him. I know he'll like it.
***
I wake up in a cold sweat, breathing rapidly and clutching the grass under me for dear life. Even if I was at Tamaki's house, it was the place I considered home now-- and it should have comforted me to look at and know where I was. But it did the opposite.
By looking at the mansion, I have a panic attack-- wondering who had kidnapped me and took me hostage. Now, I just want to go home.
But that was before I turn around.
And there- in the left corner of its very own garden- was a magnificent, sweet little dogwood tree.
I choke on a sob as I move closer to it.
So it wasn't a dream.
***
I don't know why I picked a dogwood tree, honestly. I think that we both like them.
When he approached the tree further, I started on the second half of the gift.
***
Stepping towards the tree, I notice that something is happening to it.
There, on the fragile bark, some invisible force was carving something into it.
'Hikaru and Kaoru'
It wrote.
I love it. I love it with all my heart. I'll die to protect this.
It is my salvation.
