I couldn’t believe I’d said ‘yes’ to his favor, but my week hadn’t started well at all, and I really didn’t want to do that stupid uni assignment after all. And no matter how pain-in-the-ass Nathan could be, he was also a great student, and smart. Really smart. Besides, entertaining kids for 3 hours only in exchange for Nathan to do our assignment wouldn’t be that bad, would it?

As I deduced the answer was ‘no’, I fumbled with the keys on the door. Once I was in, I closed it behind me and hung my jacket on the hanger standing on the corner of the room, stepping out of my shoes while walking to the kitchen on my white socks. I really shouldn’t be doing that.

The only thought that bothered me right now was how I’d manage to go to the party, and also to the double date with Mark later. I’d probably get a little bit late, but he could handle a few minutes alone. And I would have to bring my clothes with me, unless I wanted to go to a date like a clown. The whole outfit idea seemed embarrassing, but still, I couldn’t stop thinking I was, indeed, going to feel like a clown there. Mark would be enjoying his girl, and I’d be just trying not to make her friend feel uncomfortable. And if she tried to flirt with me I didn’t actually know what I’d do. I’d worry with that when I had to; by now I needed to eat something and go to bed, ‘cause the class had just been exhausting.

I wasn’t really on the mood for cooking, or ordering something, ‘cause I was really hungry, so soup was a good idea, though it wasn’t exactly the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I placed the warm bowl between my hands and walked back to the living room, snuggling myself on the couch and turning on the TV. Once I was done eating, I walked back to the kitchen and placed all the dirty dishes on the dishwasher, before finally going to my room and lying on my bed.

God, I needed a break.

“I’ll be there, Mark. I-“ he kept complaining about how I couldn’t let him down, of how good-looking and good smelly I should be so I wouldn’t embarrass him. “Can’t you please trust me? I told you I’ll be there. Don’t worry.”

“I’m counting on you, Haz. Please.” With that said, he hung up and I could finally take a bath before playing the babysit role. Or whatever it really was.

The whole week had been basically hell. Despite the store being empty most part of the time, Joe couldn’t leave me alone, and Nathan texted me every single day to make sure I hadn’t changed my mind. Mark and Davie spent the nights with me after I came back from uni, but they didn’t really want to stop screaming and fooling around until I literally got pissed the hell off and yelled at them with no mercy at all. For God’s sake, couldn’t they see how freaking tired I was?

The first tests of the year were about to come, and I still had so much to study, though I had no urge to do this, at all. Who did? Also, the engine of my car overheated and stopped working, and I had to go to work by bus for 3 whole days. That was definitely hell; all those people pressed against each other fighting for an empty seat.

But it was finally Sunday, and still, I couldn’t have a break. I had the party, and the double date. I had to start getting dressed.

After half an hour I was ready. The thing that had taken the longest was dressing that thing, which sounded like a quite impossible task. Too many clothing and I just didn’t know where my legs or my arms should be. But finally, I’d done it, I was ready to go.
