Jack and I make our way back to the music room after getting distracted by Danielle. She tried to prank us by getting us to walk into a room and locking us in (no doubt with Bunny's help), but I used my powers to unlock the door. I've been practicing this kind of thing, so it didn't take us very long to get out. She stomped her little feet, so we made her some ice cream to help her cope with her burn. Ouch.

Anyways, we walk back into the calming doors of the music room. I walk over to the piano to do some warm up exercises and find a note laying on the bench. I pick up the yellow sticky note and read the very neat handwriting.

Dear (y/n),
Meet me on the roof tonight at midnight. I have to discuss something with you. Love you lots... xx

"Hey, Jack, did you leave this here?" I ask as I hold it out to him.

"Let me see it," he walks over to me. He picks it up and reads it. "No... Who's M?"

"The only M I know is Manny. Do you think he left it?"

"It could also mean Mother."

"But she's dead... She was killed in an accident... Then I fought her...Then she scurried off after she stabbed you. Do you really think it could it be her? It didn't seem like she 'loved me lots' a few months ago."

"Well, either way, I'm coming with you. Can't have you up there all by yourself, now can I?"

I smile at him and lean into his chest as I continue to stare into his eyes. "I can handle myself. Thank you very much!" I poke his chest with every word.

"Oh, I know you can. I just thought you'd get lonely," he smiles as his hands intertwine together behind my back.

"Maybe I'd prefer North's company," I tease.

He gasps and feigns hurt. "(Y/n)! I thought we had something. Fine then. I see how it is.*sniffle* I guess I'll just leave now."

He lets go of my waist and begins to walk away. I catch his hand in mine and spin him around. "Well I guess I kinda sorta super need you," I whisper as I give him a peck.

"Good 'cause I kinda sorta super need you too," he says as he gives me another peck.

"Love you, Jack."

"Love you too, (y/n)."

I put on my favorite oversized sweatshirt (Jack's) and walk over to Jack who is grabbing a blanket. "Ready, Frost?"

"Yes, ma'am. Are you?"

"Yep! This is going to be so fun," I said smiling.

We decided to go on the rooftop at 11:00 to get in a mini-date before one of my parents appear. He smiles back at me and opens his free arm for me, "Come here, Darlin'."

I practically jump on him and wrap both my arms around his neck. He places his arms around my waist and holds on tightly. He flies through the open window. The cold air hits my face and I can't help but smile to myself. Being around Jack all the time has forced me to begin to enjoy the cold. I find it comforting. Jack lands on the very top of the roof and he places me down gently, but he doesn't let me go. He drops the blanket and returns that arm back to my waist. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"Hmmm... I don't think I can recall that you ever have," I tease.

He chuckles and begins, "Well, before you, it was all great. You know, taking care of the children of the world, playing with them. It was great. I felt happy, but I knew I was missing something. Love. As a spirit, it is difficult to find someone who you feel is right for you. It's difficult watching all the people of the world falling in love so easily. I thought I would never find the right one. But then, one day, I saw the cutest little girl playing in the backyard. I didn't have to be anywhere for the next few minutes, so I decided to stop by. I flew in closer, and saw a girl with these perfect drawing skills. Flawless, really. I thought never in a million years would this girl believe in me. So, I did the creepy thing and made a comment on her picture. She turned around and she was so beautiful. From there, we only grew closer and closer and I felt so thankful to have someone like you believe in me. She isn't only gorgeous, but she is kind, funny, positive, very talented, modest, strong, perfect.... And she loves me. She loves me: The boy who refuses to put on shoes. And I love her too. With all my heart. God, I love her. Thank you, (y/n)."

I know my smile is the biggest it's ever been. I place my hands on his cheeks and pull him in for a kiss. I pull away and smile at him again, kissing his cheek before nuzzling his chest. "Thank you, you Frost Giant."

He laughs and squeezes me in a ginormous bear hug. I groan and he puts me down, grabbing my hand. "Come on, let's watch the stars."

I grab one end of the blanket with my free hand and he grabs the other with his. We shake it a couple times to unfold it before laying it down flat. We sit down on it for a few seconds before deciding to lie down on it. For the next hour, we watch the stars which seem to shine brighter tonight. We spot a couple shooting stars before I hear a voice. "(Y/n)," it says.

"Did you hear that?" I ask Jack.

"No. What did you hear?" he says suspiciously as we both sit up.

"A voice." Silence. "Manny?" I ask, looking up at the moon.

"(Y/n), my child, it's nice to see you again."

"And you, Father. I don't mean to be rude, but why did you leave the creepy note on my piano bench?"

"Well, I feel that you have a right to know about your Mother."

"O-okay. What do you want to tell me..."

"She was a spirit before you were born. She used to be the sun in the same way I am the moon. It's how we met. Our friendship wove itself into something more after years and years of being friends. We knew we wanted a child, but we needed someone to watch over the child. So, I sent her down to Earth to have the child. We talked every night before you were born. Then, afterwards, we talked once a week, then once a month, then once a year, then not at all. She stopped talking to me because she fell in love with a human while she was on Earth. Danielle came around and we didn't talk until you met Jack and started to go to the Pole with him. I left her notes and she did not respond until the tenth one. I got mad at her, and she got mad at me. That is exactly why, after she died, she turned against me and worked with Pitch to bring me down."

There were tears in my eyes, seeing how I always thought my mom was such a nice person. She did a great job raising me, but she cheated on her husband. Jack noticed this and brought his right arm around me. His left hand interlocks with mine. He buries his nose in my neck and encourages me to go on considering Manny has never spoken before. I nod and take a deep breathe. "Okay. Okay..."

"That's not all. She's after you. She believes you have sided with me and she is out to get you. She knows she cannot physically hurt me, but she can hurt you. She knows it would scar me. So, I beg of you, stay safe. Inform Lucifer, Jack, and the rest of the Guardians of what I've told you here. You need to be protected. I know you can handle yourself just fine, but your mother will stop but nothing to get you."

"Okay. I will. I promise. For you." Silence. "Dad?" Nothing. "I think he's gone."

"What did he tell you?" Jack asks.

"You heard none of that?" Jack shakes his head and his eyes urge me to continue. "Well, my mom used to be the spirit of the sun, and they sent her down to earth to have me," I start. I continue on explaining everything that my dad told me, including the part about how she's after me.

"I won't let anything get to you. I won't let you get hurt again. Like I did before. You know that, right?" He asks, pulling me into his lap.

I lean my head against his chest and whisper, "Yes. I do." Jack just holds me for a few minutes. "God, what am I going to tell Danielle?"

"Exactly what Manny told you. She deserves to know too. We can do it together, okay? I'm not letting you do this by yourself."

"Thanks, Jack." I nuzzle further into him, seeking comfort.

"Anything for you, Gorgeous," he whispers and kisses the top of my head.

We just sit there for awhile, thinking about what Manny told me.
