"Ok Zarah, here we go..." I think to myself as I slowly walk onto school grounds. "Just another day at another school." You'd think I would be used to it by now, moving schools all the time because of my uncle's job. Well, I wasn't...I've learned to keep to myself and not to make any close friends because it would only make the moving away again worse. The only problem was, I was going to stay at this high school until I graduate and I had absolutely no social skills whatsoever.

I looked down to once again check if my outfit was ok. I was wearing a pair of light blue skinny jeans tucked into long black boots. I had on a black long sleeved shirt with a white infinity scarf around my neck. My long, slightly wavy blackish brown hair fell down to mid back and was being gently blown by the autumn wind.

Although, I thought this outfit was quite stylish at home, I felt out of place as I looked around campus and saw all the designer labels everyone was wearing. The girls were gorgeous and the guys weren't so bad either.

Wow, this was the worst school my aunt and uncle could send me to. All those times I felt like a complete loser was nothing compared to this humiliation

RINNGG!!!

I snapped out of my daze when I realized that the school bell had rung. Trying not to get any attention, I quickly made my way to the halls to get to my first period class.

"Ok class get out your books and turn to page 320...... Uh excuse me who are you?" Mr. Riley turned from the class to face me as I stumbled into the classroom.

"Z-z, I looked around at the snickering class and cleared my throat, "my name is Zarah Khan"

"Yes and why are you in my classroom Ms. Khan?" The teacher took of his glasses completely oblivious to the fact that he was embarrassing me in front of the whole class.

"I'm new here and this is my first period class." Geez is this how they treat all their new students? "I- uh- should be on the role sheet....." I finish awkwardly after a moment of silence.

"I'll look into this later, no point in wasting my class time. Please go take a seat in the back Ms. Khan."

Yes sir, I think as I nod and quietly make my way to the back. There was only one seat left and it was next to a boy who was enjoying this situation a bit too much. I shoot him a glare as I take my seat. Honestly, some people could be so rude.

"What are you all staring at?! Turn to page 320 and get to work!" Everyone turned serious and looked at their textbooks, except for the boy sitting next to me. His eyes were still glued to me; I swear I could feel him staring into my soul. "Do you mind?" I say not looking up from my book.

"Oooh feisty... I like it," he winked at me, causing me to glare at him again. "Is that the only thing you can do? Can. You. Speak. English?" He said while making exaggerated hand gestures as if I was foreign.

I turned to shoot a smart remark at him, but froze as soon as I saw his face. OMG it was perfect. He had tan skin and black hair much Iike my own, but his eyes, oh my god, they were beautiful. They were reddish brown, with tiny specks of amber and a little sparkle. His forehead was absolutely clear, I doubt he ever had acne problems and his straight teeth were pearl white. Is it really possible to be that good looking without Photoshop?

"Like what you see?" He smiled when he noticed me checking him out.

I realized my mouth was still open, and I hadn't spoken in a while. Way to go Zarah, now he thinks you're a complete freak I think as my face turned red.

"Are you two done flirting?" Mr. Riley looks at us sternly. "Ms. Khan this is your first day at this school in the middle of the year, I suggest you pay attention because you are already behind."

"I'm sorry" I reply lamely as the passing bell rings to signal us to get to the next class. I began to pack my belongings into my zebra printed shoulder bag when I saw a note slide onto my desk.

'' I have a feeling that you don't make friends very easily, and doubt you have somewhere to sit at lunch..... So I'm just letting you know that there is an extra seat at my table, and if you don't want to look like a loser, you should sit there.

- Your desk buddy ;) ''

Desk buddy, really? I look up from the note only to see my "desk buddy" to once again wink at me. When the second bell rang, I quickly gathered my belongings and barely had anytime to register the note because I had to worry about where my next class was. Why did this school have to be so big?

Eventually, the halls became emptier as students found there next classes. This left me wandering around the hallways looking for someone to ask for help.

"Uh excuse me, do you know where room 12B is?" I ask a guy taking a drink from the water fountain.

He looked up from me and wiped his mouth giving me a creepy smile. I began to have the sense that this may not have been a good person to ask. "hey beautiful" he said looking me up and down.

"Uhh," I began to back away, " I'm sorry I think I asked the wrong person". I turned around to walk away, but a pair of strong arms slid across my waist and stopped me.

"I think you didn't" he whispered into my ear as he pulled me towards him. My foot crashed onto his and he grip loosened out of shock. I took the moment to run as fast as I could. This school was not helping itself get on my good list. Not looking where I was going, I ran into a hard wall. "What the...... I don't remember seeing a wall here..." I mumbled to myself rubbing my head.

"That's because I'm not a wall." I looked up to see my "desk buddy" smirking at me. Ok I really needed to get his name.

"I'm sorry....." I trailed off trying signal the fact that I still didn't get his name.

"Zayn" he smiled. By the way, what are you doing in the halls, class started 5 minutes ago. Oooh she's a feisty, bad girl...even better." His smirk got wider.

"For your information Zayn" I put emphasis on Zayn, "I'm actually lost, meanwhile you have no excuse for your reason of being out of class."

" Meh. That class isn't really my thing. I enjoyed last period much better, if you know what I mean..." He winked. Why does he do that so much?

I rolled my eyes, " bad boy huh? Ya... Whatever, like that impresses me-

"who said I was trying to impress you?" He raised an eyebrow.

Ok I had enough. "I know your type, I've been to like a billion schools, and seen all different sides of you 'bad boy' type. You see a girl, and try to prove to people that she could be yours by not even trying. Sometimes, you actually act like you care, but inside your really just waiting for someone better to come along. But let me tell you, you can give any other girl a note, you can invite her to a table because you know she's completely ignorant. Then you can get into her heart, take advantage if her, and then throw her away like she was just some doll you wanted to play with. But let me tell you "Zayn" I'm not any other girl. And I will not be played with again!" I hadn't even realized I was crying until I felt hot tears running down my cheeks after I turned to leave. No Zarah. Stop, we are not going down that road again.

"Classroom 12B is the second door to your right!" I heard him shout from behind.

Wow, he probably just completely ignored everything I just said. Typical. I waved to fingers in the air, signaling I got the message, and walked into the classroom.
